Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel

Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel is the only hotel located adjacent to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu and therefore a very convenient base for visiting the awe-inspiring ruins and the beautiful surrounding area.

Machu Picchu, Peru
Sanctuary Lodge A Belmond Hotel
  • The lodge’s location is unbeatable, the only accommodation at the entrance to Machu Picchu.

  • Be among the first and the last of the day to experience the legendary ruins.

  • When not exploring Machu Picchu enjoy downtime in the pretty orchid garden, al fresco massages and yoga

  • With just 31 rooms, we recommend going for a deluxe mountain view room which has incredible views of the mountains and jungle across the Urubamba river.

Run by the prestigious Belmond group (formerly Orient Express Hotels) and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel is just steps from the entrance to the Inca ruins at Machu Picchu, one of the world’s most important heritage sites and Huayna Picchu mountain. The hotel’s privileged location allows guests to enjoy magical sunrises and sunsets in relative solitude at the ruins before and after the majority of other visitors have arrived or departed.

The Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel at Machu Picchu offers 29 rooms and two suites, 12 of which have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. For relaxing there is an interior garden with a variety of flowers and orchids and stunning panoramic views. The Tampu restaurant, exclusive to hotel guests, features stylish Andean decoration and stonework and offers mouthwatering Peruvian cuisine. Tinkuy restaurant offers a delicious daily buffet lunch and the Tampu bar serves refreshing drinks throughout the day and evening.

The hotel offers guided tours of Machu Picchu, Huanya Picchu, the impressive mountain that towers over the ancient citadel and the Temple of the Moon amongst others. One can unwind after a day of exploring one of the new seven wonders of the world with a massage using traditional Incan techniques.
