To start planning your holiday to Explora Valle Sagrado
Located in the Sacred Valley (between Cuzco and Machu Picchu), at the foot of the Peruvian Andes, Explora Valle Sagrado offers a unique all-inclusive experience combining luxury and adventure in the heart of this spectacular region.
Surrounded by corn plantations and dramatic snow-capped mountains, Explora Valle Sagrado has been completed with traditional hacienda décor and despite its modern appearance blends in beautifully with its surroundings. Each of the 50 large guest rooms and luxurious suites are furnished with neutral colours in cool Scandinavian style and boast panoramic views of the cornfields and mountainous landscape beyond. There is no WiFi, television or mini bars in rooms to encourage guests to withdraw from everyday life and maximise the opportunity to relax in peace after a long day of exploration.
Whether it’s the breakfast to get you going in the morning, the specially prepared picnic lunch on excursions or the evening dinner, be prepared for a gastronomic experience! The entire menu was exclusively developed by renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, owner of the sixth best restaurant in the world, according to The World’s Best Restaurants 2019 ranking. Expect typical Peruvian ingredients from the simplest to the most elaborate, elevated to another level but also honouring traditional Andean cooking techniques. Meals are also paired carefully with a wide selection of wines and beverages, including house special cocktails.
All of the 40 or so outdoor adventures on offer have been carefully designed to make the most of the extraordinary surroundings. All are included with your stay and are guided in small groups (private excursions can be arranged). Activities range from half to full day treks in the surrounding mountains and villages where you can enjoy biking through the countryside and visits by vehicle to markets and Inca sites, including Ollantaytambo, Pisac and Chinchero. Machu Pichu is also an option, although it’s recommended for guests staying a minimum of five nights. The excursions focus on archaeology, history and local culture and ensure an intimate experience, off the beaten track in one of Peru's most stunning regions.
After an exhilarating day of adventure be sure to check out the Pumacahua Bath House, where you’ll find the hotel’s spa facilities; including the swimming pool and saunas, and where guests can enjoy a range of massages and relaxing treatments.
There are 44 rooms and 6 suites at Explora Valle Sagrado, each designed with comfort in mind boasting layers of cosy bedding and plush furnishings. All are spacious and boast spectacular views to the surrounding cornfields and mountains. The standard rooms measure 430 sq. ft and the suites measure 570 sq. ft. There are no televisions, mini bars or WiFi available in the rooms to allow guests to disconnect from the world at home and truly immerse themselves in the beautiful natural surroundings and adventures to be had in the Sacred Valley.
The Spa, Casa Pumucahua is set within a traditional colonial house that can be found in the property's cornfields, around a 100m / 330ft walk from the main building. As well as the spa where guests can indulge in spoiling treatments, saunas and heated pools complete the air of relaxation in this beautifully restored building and boast incredible views of the surrounding mountains.
Food is all served in the restaurant and is included in your stay. A buffet breakfast is available daily, as well as snacks and picnic lunches to take out on your excursions, and a la carte lunches and dinners at the hotel. An on-site shop stocks local crafts and books and any equipment you may need for the explorations.
A menu of 30 exciting explorations can be enjoyed as part of your stay at Explora Valle Sagrado. It's definitely worth spending more than a couple of nights at Explora Valle Sagrado to make the most of the fabulous activities which are included in your stay. Many of the excursions require some prior acclimatisation so four or more nights here gives you time to build yourself up to some of the more challenging hikes or bike rides which I would highly recommend. Excursions have all been designed so you encounter as few tourists as possible giving it an exclusive feel.
The property itself is a great place to unwind in the evenings with warming fireplaces in the lounge and the spectacular mountain views which can be enjoyed from the outdoor Jacuzzis, your room and the restaurant. Make the most of your all-inclusive package and sample the delicious pisco cocktails from the bar, and if you're feeling brave a pure pisco tasting can be arranged. This is a wonderful way to experience the Sacred Valley for those with time to spare or an adventurous spirit.

Coming from a line of fantastic sister properties, Explora Sacred Valley doesn't disappoint! The lodge is built almost entirely from wood, and entering the lobby is like stepping aboard a great ship! The cosy communal lounge and common areas make great spots to chat with your fellow adventurers about the days adventures, or plan the following day's excursion. The bartenders here really create some of the best cocktails I had in Peru and the food is mouth-wateringly good. Their schedule of all inclusive activities will really keep you busy during your stay and cater to a wide range of abilities so there is plenty for everyone to do. I highly recommend the Salineras and Chinchero tour - the scenery was beautiful!
