Explora Valle Sagrado
  • The Explora ethos is to introduce guests to remote and unique destinations through a variety of carefully designed exploration programs – with expert guides ensuring you are in good hands

  • Perfectly positioned in the Sacred Valley (between Cuzco and Machu Picchu), this stylish and luxuriously appointed lodge is ideal for visiting the region’s Inca sites, trekking in the mountains and visiting colourful local markets

  • Guestrooms and common areas enjoy stunning views over original Inca terraces, fields of quinoa and corn, and the spectacular Vilcabamba mountain range, part of the Andes

  • Prepare for a gastronomic experience – the menu was developed by renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, owner of the sixth best restaurant in the world, according to The World’s Best Restaurants 2019 ranking

Surrounded by corn plantations and dramatic snow-capped mountains, Explora Valle Sagrado has been completed with traditional hacienda décor and despite its modern appearance blends in beautifully with its surroundings. Each of the 50 large guest rooms and luxurious suites are furnished with neutral colours in cool Scandinavian style and boast panoramic views of the cornfields and mountainous landscape beyond. There is no WiFi, television or mini bars in rooms to encourage guests to withdraw from everyday life and maximise the opportunity to relax in peace after a long day of exploration.

Whether it’s the breakfast to get you going in the morning, the specially prepared picnic lunch on excursions or the evening dinner, be prepared for a gastronomic experience! The entire menu was exclusively developed by renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, owner of the sixth best restaurant in the world, according to The World’s Best Restaurants 2019 ranking. Expect typical Peruvian ingredients from the simplest to the most elaborate, elevated to another level but also honouring traditional Andean cooking techniques. Meals are also paired carefully with a wide selection of wines and beverages, including house special cocktails.

All of the 40 or so outdoor adventures on offer have been carefully designed to make the most of the extraordinary surroundings. All are included with your stay and are guided in small groups (private excursions can be arranged). Activities range from half to full day treks in the surrounding mountains and villages where you can enjoy biking through the countryside and visits by vehicle to markets and Inca sites, including Ollantaytambo, Pisac and Chinchero. Machu Pichu is also an option, although it’s recommended for guests staying a minimum of five nights. The excursions focus on archaeology, history and local culture and ensure an intimate experience, off the beaten track in one of Peru's most stunning regions.

After an exhilarating day of adventure be sure to check out the Pumacahua Bath House, where you’ll find the hotel’s spa facilities; including the swimming pool and saunas, and where guests can enjoy a range of massages and relaxing treatments.
