Wadi Arbayeen with Picnic
In a 4x4 with your own private driver, head south-east of Muscat into the striking Omani countryside. Pass through the pretty fishing village of Quriyat, and look out for flamingos and sea eagles, which can often be spotted at the inland streams.
Turning away from the coast, cut through the imposing mountains before reaching Wadi Arbayeen; a scenic canyon with date palms and deep pools. It is possible to swim in the wadi, and you will also enjoy a tasty BBQ lunch here, served by your own chef and waiter.
On the way back to Muscat, drive via Wadi Mazara and stop off to visit the Wadi Dayqah Dam, which was opened in 2012. The reservoir behind the dam is five miles (eight kilometers) long, and can hold up to 100 million cubic meters of water.
Please note that should you wish to swim in Wadi Arbayeen, we recommend that ladies wear a t-shirt and shorts over their swimwear due to local customs. Wadis can also have uneven ground and loose rocks, therefore if you would like to explore we recommend sturdy footwear.
