Mexico City rarely gets too hot therefore can be enjoyed at any time of year. The hotter months of May and June, and the rainy season (June-September), when the capital experiences a downpour most afternoons may want to be avoided.

The Colonial Highlands are blessed with a spring-like climate year-round. The average day is brisk in the morning, warm and sunny in the afternoon and cool at night. Winter days are warm (in the 20s C), although you may require a sweater after the sun goes down. April and May tend to be hot and dry. Expect brief afternoon showers 3 or 4 times a week from June to mid-October. Rains are typically heaviest in July and August.

Baja California is a rare destination that offers a great getaway year long. Peak time for travel is when weather is temperate in the low 20ºc range and whale watching opportunities are at their best (late-November to April). This also includes the festive holiday and New Year period. Cool temperatures are ideal for desert adventures and hiking and boating for wildlife viewing and island exploration. Summer (April to September) can be hot and humid but the beaches are less crowded. Summer waters are ideal for snorkelling and diving. Hurricanes are much less common than in the Caribbean, but it is something to be aware of for September and October travel which is considered low season. Baja is blessed with two marine life rich oceans; the Sea of Cortez to the east has a warmer sea temperature than the more exposed than the Pacific Ocean to the west. In the summer, the breeze coming from the Pacific is a blessing.

We have included a guided tour of the city, as well as an exclusive access visit to the Templo Mayor ruins which sit right next to the city’s main square (Zocalo). Get past the barriers with your private guide and learn about the foundations of Mexico City and its sometimes gruesome history. Mexican cuisine also plays a huge part in its culture, so we have also included a cookery class, beginning in some of the city’s best food markets to select the freshest of ingredients before getting hands on in the kitchen.

Accommodation: Las Alcobas ( 3 nights )
Day 4-7

Colonial Highlands

Next stop is San Miguel de Allende, a peaceful and beautiful town in Mexico's colonial highlands, with striking architecture and brightly coloured houses. Stop on route at Teotihuacan ruins for an exhilarating hot air balloon ride over this enigmatic site before sipping some champagne at ground level and continuing with a guided tour of the pyramids on foot. From here, continue the drive to San Miguel de Allende.

The city's art scene is thriving and you can see famous works by iconic Mexican muralist Siqueiros at various locations throughout town. Its pleasant spring-like climate makes it a fantastic place to visit whatever time of year and, over time, has encouraged a number of vineyards to spring up outside town. Sample some of Mexico's finest wines and visit galleries and studios to your heart's content. We have included a visit to one of the top vineyards with a premium wine tasting experience, as well as a guided tour of the city, focusing around art, gastronomy and culture which culminates in a visit to an exclusive tequila tasting room.
