Runs the risk in some areas of seeming a little too manicured "Mexican", with its newly built colonial style building, however this offers them the space and structure for an airy and incredibly well facilitated resort style option in a small historic city like San Miguel de Allende. It means the rooms are spacious and well equipped with all the mod-cons that you need, things like connecting rooms and great villas that work very well for families visiting the city, and quite unique for San Miguel de Allende. It also means there are plenty of dining options and a whole host of activities and facilities, from an extensive spa to tennis courts, on offer to ensure the maximum entertainment and relaxation for guests visiting the city, and wanting a really comfortable oasis to escape to after excursions. The food is great - but in a city packed with beautiful restaurants, it's real dining pull comes from it's Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar, offering a stunning view of the colourful city, and numerous church steeples - the view brings in constant outside guests and locals for evening drinks, but the creativity of the menu and fantastic quality of the Mexican small plates offered up there, keeps guests coming back evening after evening.

The service at the Rosewood was key to making my stay enjoyable and everything has been thought of - even the ice cubes in the cocktails are made from frozen cocktail so as not to water down your drink in the heat of the sun.

Everyone in San Miguel claims to have the best views, but the location of the Rosewood just a little up the hill gives it a perfect vantage point and the sunsets are amazing - be sure to time your visit to the rooftop bar to make the most of it.

There is a real focus on local art and produce giving the hotel an authentic Mexican feel. It is worth noting that San Miguel is a very religious town and church bells and fireworks can be heard throughout the day, even in the morning, but this adds to its charm and is hard to avoid wherever you stay!
