Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit the Riviera Maya of Mexico is typically during the drier, slightly milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins around June and runs until November. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. Hotels tend to have more offers during this time and the wettest months tend to be September and October and best avoided. Please note that the Caribbean coast can be affected by the hurricane season, which officially is from June to November.

Insider's View

Jashita has a great restaurant, but for a change of scenery try the beach-side fish shack further down the beach where locals dish up fresh ceviche and cold Mexican beers.

Romantic candle-lit meals can be organised on the beach.

Jashita is located in a small bay. On a calm day spend a morning trying out your stand-up paddle boards skills!

For an incredible view of Soliman Bay go to the ThousandandOne terrace and while you are there enjoy a cocktail in the infinity pool.

Make sure to grab your complimentary snorkelling gear from the hotel and snorkel from the beach. Located in one of the most protected bays in the Riviera Maya, snorkelling is possible all year round.

You must have the fresh croissants at breakfast. Served with homemade jams, breakfast will quickly become your favourite meal of the day.

Jashita is a stunning eco-chic barefoot boutique hotel set on a glorious half-moon cove fringed with white sand in a secluded location just 10km north of Tulum on Mexico's Riviera Maya. Enjoy privacy and exclusivity in an unspoilt setting.

Jashita is a beautiful oceanfront boutique hotel ten minutes by car from Tulum and located on a secluded stretch of Soliman Bay. The coral reef offshore protects the bay so the glassy turquoise waters are calm, and great for snorkelling.

Jashita affords 21 beautifully appointed rooms and suites blending laid-back beach sophistication with a minimalist Zen style with natural stone floors, luxurious Italian linens, and deluxe bathrooms. The colours of the Caribbean have inspired the decor of the Venetian built hotel, and it is clear that every detail has been resided over.

A large stone Buddha greets guests in the serene lobby area of the hotel, beautifully fitted with Indonesian carved-wood doors, Moroccan art, relaxing sitting areas and a library of reading books to while away an afternoon. The hotel's Sahara Cafe adjoining serves delicious and locally sourced Mexican and international dishes with both indoor and outdoor dining. Fisherman head out on a daily basis to catch fish for the evening's meal, giving you the chance to sample some exquisite fresh food.

Although the seas are superb for cooling off during the heat of the day, Jashita also has its own pool and some of the guest's rooms come equipped with plunge pools. The waters in the bay are quite shallow (waist deep). The secluded location of the hotel creates for a serene experience in which you will truly be able to relax, and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Jashita's 30 rooms and suites are beautifully appointed in a cool minimalist style and are fitted out with modern amenities for a truly comfortable stay. All are air-conditioned with lovely garden or sea views, fine Italian bed linen, beach bag, bathrobes, snorkelling equipment, cable TV and an iPod dock.

For breathtaking 360-degree views of the ocean and surrounding jungle opt for one of the wow factor Honeymoon Suites - there are three of these in total and they are located at the top of the hotel. The Cleopatra and Neferti can connect to create the vast Master Suite, Olympus.

Located on the top floor, the Jasmine Penthouse is a stunning option with access to the top-floor pool, a large private terrace and comfortable living area with glass walls which looks out over both jungle and ocean. The Penthouse combines with the Jasmine 1001 Terrace to create a larger suite, offering complete exclusivity of the facilities on the top floor. Guests will also be able to make the most of 24-hour butler service.

Children are very welcome at Jashita however do note that the hotel is very popular with honeymooners so there aren't any specific children's facilities or kids club here as it is more geared to couples. Some of the rooms have sofas that can be converted into single beds, babysitting is available on request and there are connecting rooms, but no baby cots. The waters of Soliman Bay remain shallow for a long way out so it is great for families as the reef does protect the hotel from the tides and is an excellent snorkelling spot.

Hotel facilities include a beachfront pool, beach palapas and the Sahara Café restaurant.

The beautiful coastal Mayan ruins of Tulum are just 10km from Jashita. The stunning Dos Ojos Cenote is only 5km away, while Xel-Ha Ecological Park is 9km away. The hotel also offers free daily boat tours including snorkelling trips (you will find snorkelling equipment in your room) kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding and complimentary bicycles for hire. Staff at the Jashita can also arrange beachfront yoga sessions, massages or scuba diving with a personal instructor. Fishing, kite surfing and golf (18 hole course 5-minutes away) can also be organised nearby.

Jashita is perfect or those looking to totally relax in a small and personalised hotel. Located in Solimon bay, the setting is beautiful and the majority of rooms boast views of tropical vegetation and turquoise waters. I loved the simplicity and zen feel of Jashita where the focus is on bare-foot luxury, stripping back to basics and enjoying the view and surrounds. The facilities are more limited here, with no telephones in the rooms or wellness centre. However this only encourages you to get outdoors and explore.

As my driver pulled off the weather worn roadway, a tall thatched structure loomed from the jungle trees, a tropical vision from the pages of Swiss Family Robinson. A mangrove jungle rising before the resort opening up to a sheer white limestone sandy beachfront fronting Soliman Bay revealing the refreshing Jashita Hotel. Outside the aroma of fresh flowers and fragrance woke me from my cranky stupor and I took a deep breath entering the open air lobby. I was told with a smile that my room was upgraded to the Nefertiti Suite and my weary spirit was immediately lifted. You would be hard pressed not to immediately fall in love with this place as I entered the gorgeous lobby straight out of a design magazine and with margarita in hand quickly melted into the atmosphere.

The understated but certainly luxurious boutique hotel is a far cry from what I had anticipated. The owners, the Marchiorello family from Verona, Italy built the resort in 2010 after falling in love with the tranquil bay protected by a coral reef. Enrico Marchiorellos handsome son Tommaso manages the hotel and is a frequent companion to the guests, whether its taking the private fishing boat out and cooking fresh fish or becoming a lifelong friend to many of the returning fans of the hotel. His compassion towards making the guests feel at home contribute to the experience of modern luxury such as crisp linen sheets, flat screen televisions and perfect air conditioning. The Nefertiti Suite is just one of the beautiful rooms overlooking the water with massive terraces created for lounging on hammocks or viewing the spectacular jungle biosphere on one side or the glassy calm waters on the other. This is truly the most luxurious hotel in Tulum.
