Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit. The wildebeest migration happens most of year in Tanzania's Serengeti, and is linked to the rainfall.
Experience some of East Africa’s most luxurious lodges on an unbeatable Tanzanian adventured. Enjoy the famous Serengeti in the most exclusive way possible, away from the crowds, but with a plethora of wild life right on your door step. You will then make your way to a private Robinson Crusoe island where you can relax and un wind on a soft white sandy beach.
Arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport and connect to the Singita Grumeti Reserve, an entire privately-owned game reserve in the western corridor of the Serengeti. Here you will be staying at Singita Sasakwa Lodge, which sits perched on a hill overlooking a vast plain below. Your private cottage comes equipped with an infinity plunge pool and Swarowski telescope so, even when you are relaxing between game drives, you won’t miss any action on the savannah. In addition, the lodge offers tennis courts, a stable of 16 horses and a large outdoor pool. When you are not enjoying the opulent surroundings of the lodge you will explore the region on 4x4 game drives in search of an abundance of wildlife, including the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest, widely known as the greatest natural spectacle on earth.
You will then be driven to Singita Faru Faru Lodge to continue your safari experience. This stunning lodge is located a 45-minute drive from Sasakwa Lodge overlooking the Grumeti River with just eight spacious but cosy suites. Elevated viewing decks overlook the waterhole while huge picture windows in each room mean that game viewing never has to stop. Again this is a region that will offer fantastic wildlife experiences on twice daily game drives and safari walks, it is also positioned on the renowned migratory route. Hot air-balloon rides can be easily organised over the stunning reserve for a really special touch.
You will then fly from Sasakwa to Zanzibar where you will be met and transferred, by road and boat, to the utterly fabulous Mnemba Island Lodge. Mnemba is easily the most luxurious lodge in Zanzibar and is the only lodge on Mnemba Island. The 10 large thatched ‘bandas’ are simply yet exquisitely furnished, the ‘Robinson Crusoe’ style belying the fact that this is an extremely well-run and luxurious place. The white-sand beaches, and snorkelling directly off them, can be enjoyed only by guests of the lodge and, in addition to all meals and drinks, two dives per person, per day are included in your stay (provided you hold a PADI qualification).
Sailing in a dhow, the traditional sailing boat used in Zanzibar, is the best way to view the island's coastline. Sailing in the late evening to watch the sun set is the best time of day and is wonderfully romantic.
Soar over the Serengeti's savannah plains in a hot air balloon at dawn, watching wildlife beneath you & finishing with a champagne bush breakfast.
