Winter is the perfect time to visit Finnish Lapland. The winter temperatures can vary anywhere between 0°C and -40°C. The average temperature in January is -14°C, but the cold is not biting because the air is dry. There can be as much as one metre of snow and it usually lasts until May. There is potential for Northern Lights viewing throughout the winter months.
This short itinerary is perfect for a long weekend away or a winter mini-moon to Lapland. Enjoy an array of winter wonderland activities at an adults-only boutique hotel before spending the night under the stars Northern Lights spotting in your own igloo.
Delving into the heart of Finnish Lapland you’ll begin your trip at Beana Laponia, an intimate adults-only boutique hotel where you can bathe in the outdoor hot tub and visit the adorable huskies at the hotel’s very own husky farm.
You’ll spend your days exploring your surroundings and taking part in some typical winter activities such as snowshoeing - you can even unleash your inner child and borrow one of the hotel’s toboggans as your head to the nearby slope! We’ve included both a husky and snowmobile safari, so you can experience these two very different paced activities! As well as being able to visit the dogs in their pens we will organise for you to set off on your very own husky sledding experience where you will learn the commands on how to mush the group.
Then, as the evening draws in you’ll have chance to warm up in the hotel’s outdoor hot tub or sauna before cosying up next to a campfire, enjoying a warm drink and listening to fabled stories about the elusive Aurora Borealis as you keep your eyes peeled in hopes of spotting the colourful hue of the Northern Lights above.
After an enjoyable few days, you will continue your journey further North, to end your trip with a seriously special experience as you spend the night under a glass roof at Golden Crown Igloos. The drive takes around two and a half hours.
Your premier igloo is perfectly situated along a ridge, so you’ll enjoy sweeping views over the winter landscape without being overlooked. Your motorised bed even allows you to change your position to find the best angle and optimise your chance of spotting the Northern Lights above.
Your bespoke holiday will be designed especially for you by one of our expert Travel consultants and we will ensure to include all your activities as well as private transfers and guides so that you receive the VIP treatment from start to finish for an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime trip. If you want to add on a city stay, we can also combine this itinerary with a stay in Finland’s vibrant capital of Helsinki.
Finnish Lapland has the purest air in the world and one of the most unique ways to experience this and to truly immerse yourself in the nature is to cocoon yourself in a hammock and enjoy the peace of your surroundings.
Surrounded by the snowy wilderness of Finnish Lapland relax in the comfort of your private sauna building before retreating to the warmth of your open-air barrel hot tub.
Spend an evening under the stars, huddled around the campfire at Beana Laponia. Stay warm with hot drinks and listen to tales of the Aurora Borealis as you keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights dancing in the sky overhead.
Explore the wilderness of Finnish Lapland with an exhilarating husky sled journey. Meet the friendly huskies and set off through the snow on a traditional Lappish adventure. Husky sleds at Beana are adults-only and run in small groups on exclusive trails.
Head to the nearby slopes and whizz your way down at breakneck speed- luckily you have soft snow to cushion you if you fall!
