Winter is the perfect time to visit Finnish Lapland. The winter temperatures can vary anywhere between 0°C and -40°C. The average temperature in January is -14°C, but the cold is not biting because the air is dry. There can be as much as one metre of snow and it usually lasts until May. There is potential for Northern Lights viewing throughout the winter months.

Golden Crown Glass Igloos are a collection of just 27 igloos, from where, with luck, you can spot the Northern Lights from your bed! The igloos are dotted along the ridge of a fell with stunning views over Finnish Lapland's unspoilt wilderness.
For those looking to stay somewhere truly unique and hoping to maximise the possibility of seeing the famous Northern Lights, an overnight stay in one of Golden Crown's glass igloos is a must.
Each igloo has a central double bed with a private bathroom with a shower and toilet, some igloos can also accommodate extra beds added for children. Suite igloos also benefit from their own private outdoor jacuzzi. The glass roof reveals the amazing night sky, scattered with stars and, if luck is on your side, the dancing Aurora Borealis. The views in general by day and by night are truly magnificent as the eye is drawn across the unique landscape and undulating fells.
Expect incredible sunrises and sunsets, trees glistening with icicles and crunchy snow underfoot. The glass igloos are perfect for a one night stay as part of a longer itinerary. For adults and children alike we can tailor an amazing itinerary with huskies, reindeer sledding and snow-mobiling.
Accommodation
There are two types of igloos with the Premium Igloos boasting the best position along the front line with sweeping views across the fells and unobstructed panoramic views that stretch for miles. Each glass igloo has a kitchenette, shower and toilet. The windows are insulated and electrically heated to keep them from frosting up. At the centre of the igloo is a motorised double bed that can be converted into twin beds.
Prime Superior Igloo | The 9 prime superior igloos have a prime location on the hill side offering a unobstructed view of the valley. The igloos feature a double motorised bed that can be separated in to twin beds. They are equipped with a kettle, coffee maker, refrigerator, radio, hairdryer,bathrobe and slippers. The rooms are 23 square metres in size. |
Suite Igloo | The luxurious Suite Igloos are 53 square metres and each of them have a sleeping area, small kitchen, lounge area and bathroom. There is also terrace with a private outdoor jacuzzi. They are located in a prime location of the fell with an unobstructed view of the valley. |
Superior Igloo | The 15 superior igloos offer great views of the valley. The igloos feature a double motorised bed and a sofa bed that can sleep 2 children under 12. They are equipped with a kettle, coffee maker, refrigerator, radio, hair-dryer,bathrobe and slippers. The rooms are 23 square metres in size. |
Facilities
The kitchenette is equipped with a breakfast set for two, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and fridge. Breakfast delivery can be arranged.

The Golden Crown Igloos are located near Levi which offers husky & reindeer sledding and snowmobiling. For Father Christmas enthusiasts the man himself can be visited a short drive away.
