Rome enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate. Summers (from June to September) are hot and dry with temperatures often soaring to 37°C. High humidity is also common, particularly in July and August. Winter tends to be moderate, at least by northern European standards, with temperatures averaging around 10°C to 15°C between December and February. Spring (March to June) and early autumn (September and October) are the best times to visit Rome, with lovely blue skies and mild temperatures. November and December are the two wettest months.
Starting in mid-June, the summer rush really picks up, and from July to mid-September the Rome teems with visitors. August is the worst month: Not only does it get uncomfortably hot, muggy, and crowded, but the entire country goes on vacation at least from August 15 to the end of the month (many Italians take off the entire month). Many hotels, restaurants, and shops are closed.

The Hotel de Russie is the place to be seen in Rome. In the heart of the hotel is a beautiful piazza, a secret garden, where many Romans come to enjoy an aperitivo. This gives the hotel a wonderful cosmopolitan and buzzing atmosphere.
Ideally located between the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish steps, Hotel de Russie has a to-die-for location coupled with an inimitable style. This allows it to appeal to both couples looking for a romantic weekend hideaway and families charmed by its central location and pretty gardens.
French poet Jean Cocteau described the hotel as “paradise on earth" and it's easy to see why. Transformed by Sir Rocco Forte into one of the city's most stylish hotels, the 18th century terraced gardens are still in evidence but are now coupled with a contemporary chic design.
The two-Michelin-star chef in residence at Le Jardin de Russie, Fulvio Pierangelini, creates Mediterranean dishes and is a popular place for both residents and locals alike. Afternoon tea is served in the garden while a fantastic cocktail list makes the bar a particularly tempting option for evening drinks. A house specialty is the De Russie Martini served with caviar - a nod to the hotel’s 19th-century clientele who would escape cold Russian winters for Rome’s warmer climate.
As with all of the Rocco Forte properties, the rooms are tastefully designed with muted tones and splashes of bright accessories. Some bedrooms have a beautiful view of the square and the Rome skyline. The Vatican City, with St Peter's and the Sistine Chapel, is just a ten-minute walk away while Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain are also within easy access.
The hotel also has an extensive health club and spa with a hydropool, Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish steam bath, beauty treatments and gym.
The hotel boasts 86 room and suites. The guest rooms are individual in their design, varying from a classic to a contemporary look. They have a pastel colored paint scheme to create a restful atmosphere. The bathrooms too vary in design but they are all marble or marble mosaic, so very luxurious and stylish.
