Average time to visit

It is very difficult to predict the weather in Ireland - in the summer from May to late September is generally seen as the most pleasant time to visit. Rainfall is difficult to predict - but Ireland does not receive as much as many are led to believe! In the winters, temperatures do fall, but there is nothing better than finding a remote pub with a roaring fire to sit beside after a long walk in the country.

Description

Perched on the shores of tranquil Lough Eske amongst the rural beauty of Donegal, the luxurious Harvey’s Point is a secluded hideaway amongst some of Ireland’s most stunning natural scenery.

Amongst the undulating hills of Donegal, on the shores of the tranquil Lough Eske, lies Harvey’s Point, a modern, family-owned country hotel famed for its warm Irish hospitality, fine food and characteristically laid-back charm. This charming country estate feels a world away from the trappings of busy everyday life, offering the luxury of total seclusion, fresh country air and the famously warm and friendly Irish charm.

The hotel’s 81 suites are spread throughout the hotel, each bedecked in luxurious country-style furnishings, rich fabrics and hardwood furniture. Marble bathrooms complete with powerful showers and deep-soak tubs feature throughout, whilst the larger suites offer additional space and living areas. Every suite is designed to make the most of the stunning views of the surrounding Bluestack Mountains or the lake, with the Lakeshore Suites boasting a private balcony to make the most of the Lough Eske panoramas.

Food and drink are at the heart of the Harvey’s Point experience, with award-winning cuisine served throughout the day at the hotel’s main restaurant. From the hearty, home-cooked breakfasts to the sublime a la carte and tasting menus served in the evening, traditional, Irish fare prepared from local, seasonal ingredients is central to their philosophy. Down by the lakeshore, Harvey’s Bar & Terrace with its unique octagonal bar and stunning views of Lough Eske is the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco lunch or sublime afternoon tea. Tea, coffee and lighter bites are served throughout the day, with live entertainment most evenings accompanying the impressive gin, whiskey and cocktail lists.

On the fourth floor of the hotel, the small but perfectly formed spa offers an array of pampering beauty treatments, whilst the swimming pool and fitness facilities at the nearby Solis Lough Eske are available for use to guests of Harvey’s Point. Endless walking trails emanate from the hotel grounds in to the surrounding hills and forests, whilst world-class golf courses, beautiful beaches and the unique artisan tweed shops of Donegal are all within a short drive.
