Excellent facilities including swimming pool, spa and steam bath

The weather is good almost all year round in Salta and Jujuy and the north west in general. It’s warm and dry in winter (June to September) though it gets cold at night. Summer (December to February) is hot and there’s no air conditioning in most rooms. Avoid the rainy season of February to March, when many of the roads to places you'll want to explore may be impassable due to flooding.
Hotel Huacalera is a stylish hotel in an ideal location for exploring north western Argentina's Jujuy region. Explore the dramatic landscapes, visit remote villages and learn about the Andean culture of the Quebrada de Humahuaca.
Hotel Huacalera offers a superb base for taking in the sights of north western Argentina, from the unique landscapes of the seven coloured hills to the fascinating indigenous culture. Situated in the small town of Huacalera, it is right in the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca region, north of Salta and Jujuy, the two main entry points for the region.
There are 32 rooms here, some with a balcony or terrace, all modern in their design. Jewel coloured fabrics brighten the interiors throughout the property, contrasting to the natural wooden floors and plasterwork, and local artwork and traditional crafts are displayed throughout the property.
There is a lovely swimming pool and sun terrace where you can relax when you're not out exploring, and the Capricorn Spa offers a range of treatments as well as a sauna and steam room. Meals are served in the atmospheric dining room and are a mix of international and Andean cuisine.
Hotel Huacalera's main draw, however, is not the spa or the comfortable rooms, but the activities on offer. Take your pick from trekking in the mountains, horseback riding, visiting local ateliers and artists, to visiting archaeological sites or joining a llama trek. Interaction with rural communities is always authentic and fascinating, and your guide will ensure you get the most out of your visit to this unique region, whatever your interests are.
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site, Quebrada de Humahuaca, on this full day adventure, taking in the high mountain passes and visiting the remote and unspoilt town of Iruya. The town's location has allowed it to retain a real sense of authenticity.
An adventurous day exploring the region with your guide in a 4x4 vehicle, you'll visit the incredible salt flats, crossing the dramatic Cuesta de Lipan mountain range (more than 4000m above sea level) on the way.
A real highlight of your stay in this region, travel through the town of Humahuaca to the beautiful coloured Hornocal mountains. Named the Hills of Seven Colours, the unique geology of the area has formed ribbons of colours across the hillside.
The hotel is located in the small town of Huacalera to the north of Jujuy. It is 15-minutes north of Tilcara and 25-minutes south of Humahuaca, two of the main towns nearby, and is ideally located for exploring the fascinating landscapes and cultures of the Quebrada de Humahuaca region.
International flight into Buenos Aires and from here, a further flight to Jujuy or Salta. From Jujuy it is around a 1 1/2 hour drive to the hotel, or around 2 1/2 hours from Salta.
