The dry season from December to April, doesn't necessarily mean no rain but there should be less of it, is considered the best time to visit Costa Rica. The 'green' season runs from May to November and there is more chance of rain during this time with September and October being the wettest months. It is important to plan well in advance for Christmas and New Year to avoid disappointment (ideally a year) as Costa Rica is extremely popular over this time with repeat bookers. Easter and during US school vacations are also best to plan ahead.
To start planning your vacation to El Mangroove
El Mangroove is a stylish yet casual beach hotel located in the lovely Papagayo bay. The hotel's 85 suites are styled with recycled wood, local artwork and contemporary stone finishes. Facilities at the hotel include 2 restaurants, a pool, spa and beach.
El Mangroove, with 150 meters of beautiful chocolate sand beach front in the Papagayo bay, is a perfect chilled out alternative to the many dressed up resorts that populate the coast of Guanacaste. This is the coolest beach hangout in the area!
El Mangroove boasts 85 comfortable guest rooms, featuring wooden furnishings recycled and made from the mangroves which used to occupy the property. Each room features modern amenities and has a unique open-air sitting area. The hotel also features two excellent restaurants, one of which is now run by a former protogee of chef Jamie Oliver.
The large infinity pool redefines "laid back" but with a luxury twist - private cabanas are available and stunning beach views can be seen from all angles. The beach itself has dark chocolate sand and wraps around the tranquil bay - perfect for stand up paddle boarding or swimming - and is host to some of the best sunsets in the country.
All facilities in the main area face towards the Pacific horizon so that views can be enjoyed all common spaces, from the pool to the restaurant to the bar. The Matisse Bar and restaurant also offers a takeout food & beverage service for those seeking privacy or romance, and is perfect for guests who want to go and enjoy the vibrant sunset on the beach.

This boutique hotel is located right on Playa Panama, a beautiful typical beach ideal to go for long morning walks at low tide before it gets too hot. There is plenty of trees on the beach for shade and if it does get too hot, you have the choice of cooling down in the ocean or the big modern pool which is just steps away from the beach. It is so close to the airport and does not have a lot of other hotels around, which makes the beach quiet and private. The rooms have a unique design and combine a nice fresh air seating area with a cosy bedroom. The service is amazing, and the Spa has beautiful outdoor treatment bungalows. Make sure you request the jungle/forest view rooms as they have the most privacy.

A great, quirky little hideaway in Papagayo - this is the perfect place for those looking for real barefoot luxury to end their Costa Rican adventure with! Great service, amazing sunsets, and the best fish tacos in the area juxtapose the abstract, dramatic lines of the open air property - this hotel has just the right amount of casual in their refined finish, that just oozes cool.
