Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

The food at Spice Island was my absolute highlight of my trip to Grenada, I enjoyed an exquisite 7 course dinner which was just exceptional with service to match. Courses included tomato sorbet, chilled christophine soup and pie with home made avocado ice cream. The menu is different every day for 3 weeks so you should never tire of what's on offer. Being gluten free, there was a lot of thought and attention put into my "treats" such as mini macaroons in the room. Very impressed.
The beach, rooms, spa are all stunning here but what really makes the difference is the staff from the personal approach of the General Manager Brian Hardy, to the chef who sourced soursop for me with very little notice just because I felt like it! It is so impressive to see that service can be impeccable in the Caribbean, other properties in the Caribbean could learn a thing or two from Spice Island!

A very luxurious beach resort located on the Grand Anse beach. All the rooms are very private, some with their own plunge pools. Lovely spa and the kids club only offers indoor activities. The hotel has two restaurants; one fine dining and one all day dining.

Spice Island is a wonderfully elegant resort, located right on the two mile Grand Anse Beach. The Sea Grape suites have the prime location. You step off your terrace, right onto the beach. The food in Olivers restaurant is fabulous.

Spice Island Resort has probably one of the best locations on the island as it is situated off Grand Anse beach. It offers a good value All Inclusive but with high standards of accommodation and food.
Anna Northeast (Staff)
This place is a little gem. Not only is it set on arguably the best beach on the island, it also manages to achieve an all inclusive status whilst not skimping on the quality or service.
Family owned and run, this really shows. Sir Royston and his family really care about their guests and extend a very warm welcome to every guest. I was lucky enough to dine with them one night and it was an absolute pleasure. The food is all a la carte, no buffets here, and of the highest quality, with a superb wine list to match.
The style here is comfortable yet contemporary. Spice Island was rebuilt after being badly damaged by a hurricane in 2005, and no expense was spared in the refurbishment. I stayed in one of the huge Sea Grape Beach Suites which are right on the edge of Grand Anse Beach. These are perfect for families, comfortably accommodating 2 adults and 1 or 2 children, or they interconnect if you want a bit more room. They also offer larger suites and if youre honeymooning, the pool suites are wonderfully decadent and very private.
Families are very welcome here but it doesnt feel like a family only resort. Therefore, parents can feel like they are away on vacation too. The Nutmeg Pod childrens club is great for the little ones for a few hours, although not an extensive facility, there are arts and crafts, games and activities for the young ones, and lovely staff.
All in all, Spice Island is a fantastic option for couples and families. Either will feel at home here and with the all inclusive option theres no reason to ever leave. I was a little apprehensive of an all inclusive hotel having experienced bad ones in the past, but at Spice Island I was more than pleasantly surprised at the extremely high standards, both of food and service. I couldnt recommend it highly enough.
