Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Fly into Nairobi
-
Days 1-4: Laikipia
Board a small charter from Nairobi and start your safari adventure in Kenya on the Laikipia plateau. Explore the stunning Lewa Wildlife Conservancy by camel, horseback, safari vehicle and even from the skies, flying in a bright yellow bi-plane (extra cost). The backbone of a day in Laikipia is a morning and afternoon game drive, wildlife here is diverse and includes good numbers of rhino, lion, wild dog and elephant as well as more unusual species such as the reticulated giraffe and Grevy's zebra. For those that are interested, you can meet some of the rangers and anti-poaching patrol teams.
Accommodation: Lewa House (3 nights)
-
Days 4-7: Maasai Mara
Fly to the Maasai Mara and begin the second part of your safari. The Masai Mara is home to some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. If you are here in August or September, you may catch sight of the Great Migration, where two million wildebeest and zebra flood the grassy savannah plains, and big cats lie in wait for the perfect moment to pounce. Year-round the wildlife here is incredible, though, with pods of hippos wallowing in the mud, herds of elephants, prides of lazy lions lounging on the top of the rocky kopjes and cheetah who have even been known to sit on the roof of a safari vehicle as a vantage point. For a real treat, take to the skies in a hot air balloon to get an aerial perspective. Serian adds to your traditional safari experience by offering a glimpse into traditional Masaai life by offering warrior training, great for teens - going jogging with the Maasai, learning to throw spears and earning your place in the tribe!
Accommodation: Serian Camp (3 nights)
-
Days 7-13: Diani
After this, some beach time is in order, and where better than the Kenya coast, just a short hop away by plane. Relax and unwind and indulge at the spa, whilst the teenagers head to the beach to play football or volleyball, or try their hand at kitesurfing, sailing or doing an introductory dive course.
Accommodation: Almanara Villas (6 nights)
