Step beyond the game-drive vehicle and into a world that few ever truly experience. Kicheche Bush Camp’s escorted walking safari invites you to slow your pace and awaken your senses to the rhythm of the Mara. Led by one of Kicheche’s most seasoned guides and accompanied by an armed ranger, this overnight adventure redefines safari luxury — offering the rare privilege of exploring Kenya’s wilderness as the early explorers once did, yet with a decidedly refined touch.
Each step reveals a different perspective: the intricate weave of grasses beneath your boots, the shimmer of wings overhead, and the subtle signatures of wildlife written in the dust. You may find yourself tracking elephant spoor through the acacia or pausing to listen as the bush falls into its twilight hush — moments of connection that no vehicle can replicate.
As dusk settles, your fly-camp awaits — lanterns aglow and a warm bush shower ready to revive you. A perfectly chilled gin and tonic marks the evening’s beginning, followed by a candlelit dinner beneath a vast canopy of stars. The night’s soundtrack is pure Africa: the staccato call of cicadas, the distant laughter of hyenas, and perhaps, the deep echo of a lion’s roar.
Your tent, though simple, is steeped in nostalgia — echoing the spirit of Hemingway and Selous, yet thoughtfully appointed for comfort. As dawn breaks, coffee is delivered to your tent before you set off once more, the cool morning air alive with promise.
This experience isn’t about extravagance — it’s about authenticity. It’s about rediscovering safari in its purest form: intimate, elemental, and deeply rewarding. A journey that leaves you richer not in possessions, but in perspective.
Daily departure is at 1500 hrs. Return the following day at 1000 hrs. Bookings should be made in advance; bookings made whilst at Kicheche will be strictly subject to availability. Each excursion required minimum 2 people and is limited to 6 guests. Walking is available for children aged 12 and above, but ONLY at the discretion of the guide.
