The Tuscan coast enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate. Summers (from June to September) are hot and dry with temperatures often soaring to 37°C. High humidity is also common, particularly in July and August. Spring (March to June) and early autumn (September and October) are the amongst the best times to visit Tuscany and especially the city of Rome, with lovely blue skies and mild temperatures.

Located right on the coast in Tuscany, just a 1-hour 30-minute drive from Rome, Il Pellicano is the perfect place to relax by the sea after the wonders and culture of a city break to Rome. With a spa too, you can really unwind and enjoy the views.
Il Pellicano is an elegant, historic and unique small hotel situated on Tuscany's Argentario peninsula. Built in the mid-1960s by Michael and Patricia Graham as a private club for their glamorous circle of friends and christened 'Il Pellicano' as the couple met at Pelican Point in California, the hotel is now well known for its beautiful aspect and its Michelin-starred restaurant.
The hotel is located close to the port of Porto Ercole, a picturesque marina town popular with jetsetters and the yachting fraternity. Its coastal location in the Maremma district of Tuscany means it is pretty much the same distance from Rome as it is from Pisa and Florence, making it a fantastic place to stop and relax for those travelling around the cities and countryside of Tuscany.
Il Pellicano boasts 34 double rooms, 5 junior suites, 4 deluxe suites and 7 master deluxe suites. Just about all rooms face the sea. There are also cottages available for private rental. Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, safe and complimentary minibar come as standard.
|Master Deluxe Suite Sea View||
This Suite, located in one of the cottages, is composed of : one main bedroom (sea view) with a bathroom, a second smaller bedroom (courtyard) with another bathroom and a large living room.
|Junior Sea View Suite||
The junior sea view suites measure between 40-47sqm/430-506sqt and are light, airy rooms with beautiful sea views from the balcony or terrace. They can accommodate up to three guests and benefit from a king-size bed and a luxury bathroom.
|Garden View Room||
The garden view rooms measure between 28-43sqm/300-463sqt and can accommodate up to three guests. They benefit from a king-size bed, beautiful bathroom and garden access.
Il Pellicano welcomes children aged 8 and over.
The Michelin-starred restaurant at Il Pellicano is overseen by Sebastiano Lombardi. The restaurant has an elegant indoor dining space and a charming terrace overlooking the sea. The Pelligrill by the pool serves more relaxed evening meals and tasty lunches.
At the beach club it's possible to organise sailing boat charters, waterskiing, and stand-up paddle boarding. The hotel has a tennis court and lessons can be pre-booked. It is also possible to arrange horse-riding, trekking, and cycling excursions through the Maremma with the concierge. The location of the hotel means that many of the sights of Tuscany are within easy reach for a day trip.

Il Pellicano is a unique hotel. I was particularly impressed with the dining experience: not only is the food amazing but the view is stunning too! I thought the Pellicano would be an ideal place to end a Tuscan holiday with a few nights relaxing by the sea.
