Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

India has a tropical climate. Summer (April-June) temperatures can get as high as 43-44°C, while early mornings and evenings are pleasant (18-24°C). Night time winter temperatures vary between 02-20°C, whereas days are sunny and pleasant (October-March). Rainfall is heavy in the monsoon season (mid June to September) and average rainfall is 1400 mm. The best time to travel is October to May when game viewing is at its best.

The Maldives also has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C. February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.

We design each itinerary around you, so this suggested itinerary is a starting point that we can tweak or transform into something completely bespoke to you. To start planning your holiday

On this highlight itinerary you’ll be able to explore the magical history and culture of India's Golden Triangle with a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park and end with the turquoise blue lagoons of the Maldives. Combining culture, history, adventure and tropical beaches, this itinerary is perfect if you love an adventure with still plenty of time to relax and unwind.

  1. Days 1-3: Jaipur

Start by flying into Jaipur, the Pink City and the capital of Rajasthan. We have included two days here, just to slowly get you into the swing of things and to visit the city's famous landmarks such as the City Palace, Palace of the Winds and Amber Fort which are all worth seeing. In India you will have your own private driver with expert private guides to make the most of your time in the country. There is so much to see and do in Jaipur, from walking through its hidden nooks and crannies, maybe stopping for tea in a historic haveli and meeting a local family.

Accommodation: Taj Rambagh Palace (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-5: Ranthambore National Park

Next drive south east for just under four hours to Ranthambore National Park, where you will be spending the following two nights. In recent years, the tiger population has been growing thanks in part to the positive effect which controlled and sustainable tourism has had on the key tiger parks. Not only that, you will see a myriad of other wildlife, from leopards, sloth bears, deer and diverse birdlife. In the centre of Ranthambore is an impressive ancient fort, and sometimes you see the tigers sunning themselves on ancient temples. Here we have included daily safaris for you to explore this beautiful area of the world and the hope of spotting a tiger or two!

Accommodation: Suján Sher Bagh (2 nights)

  3. Days 5-6: Agra

Then, take the two-hour train to Bharatpur and to Agra, to experience the incredible Taj Mahal. On your first afternoon in Agra we have included some of the highlights of the city for you including the Agra Fort where Shah Jehan, the builder of the Taj Mahal, was imprisoned by his son and had a small window from which to gaze out over his creation and the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Accommodation: The Oberoi Amarvilas (1 night)

  4. Days 6-9: Delhi

The following morning, before your train to Delhi, we have included a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful times of day to see the magnificent building and if there is time we can include the Mughal Heritage Walk which takes you to the little-known villages around the back of the Taj Mahal where you can see how these communities work and live. On arrival in Delhi, where you will be spending the next three nights, your private guide will meet you and help you delve a little deeper into Rajasthani culture, away from the main tourist’s routes. At night, we will suggest the best restaurants or the hidden markets to wander around. Here you can explore Delhi's fascinating past and if you wish, do a little shopping before you head to the Maldives.

    Accommodation: The Imperial (3 nights)

  5. Days 9-14: Maldives

From Delhi you will then take an early morning flight from Delhi to Male. You'll arrive in the Maldives around mid-morning, in time for a rest and a swim before lunch, the perfect way to kick off your following five nights. Spend your days snorkelling along the house reef, try your hand at diving or just sit back and soak up the sun.

    Accommodation: Baros (5 nights)
