This two-week exploration immerses you in this magical state, taking you to both its most celebrated sites, as well as hidden jewels away from the norm. Relish the views in restored palaces perched cliff edges and tantalise your senses as you dine on home-cooked feasts at an owner run homestay, India will get under your skin.

  1. Fly to Delhi

  2. Days 1-3: Delhi

    Arriving in India’s capital, a riot of energy and colour, you will be looked after and transferred to your charming homestay in the south of the city. Thikana is a boutique haven and on your first afternoon a perfect balm after your flight. Relax in a quiet corner with a fresh cup of chai or explore Delhi’s magnificent garden tombs and the Lodi gardens on a private tour. After a restful sleep, delve into Delhi’s heart with a specialist guide; visit Old Delhi’s ancient bazaars, marvel at the Mughal splendour of Humayun’s Tomb and the towering spires Qutab Minar.

  3. Days 3-4: Agra

    Get ready for a fundamental part of any Indian journey, majestically rolling through the land on a train. We’ll handle your two hour journey from Dehli to Agra, so you can watch the miles drift by with a tea in hand. The Taj Mahal beckons as you arrive in Agra, where you’re staying at the colourful Coral Tree, a homestay where family is the ethos. Ideal for exploring the town, set off from Coral Court and spend the day discovering the delights of Agra with your private guide. Walk around one of India’s finest Mughal forts and gaze over the Yumana River from Mehtab Bag, where the Taj Mahal sits majestically on the horizon. 

    Wake up in the pre-dawn haze the following morning and make your way to the Taj Mahal to watch the sun slowly rise, revealing the magnificent mausoleum in its full glory. A truly enchanting sight. After a delicious breakfast, you will begin the drive to your next destination – the enigmatic city of Jaipur. Along the way, stop at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri which was once the capital of the Mughal empire and was abandoned 400 years ago.

  4. Days 4-7: Jaipur

    Rajasthan’s capital and largest city awaits, often known as the ‘Pink City’ due to the rose coloured buildings found at every turn. Your home here is Dera Mandawa, a beautifully restored, owner run boutique hotel, where Indian colour and tradition leaps from every corner. Expect warm charm and fascinating stories about the old days of Jaipur. Your first day is spent unearthing Jaipur with one of our expert guides, exploring the city palace, Jantar Mantar observatory, the Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal) and the bazaars of the old town.  

    The next day it’s time to step away from the beaten track, walking to the settlement of the Meena Tribe before ascending the Aravalli Hills on a track once by Maharajas to move their cannons. Feel your breath catch as you first see the Amber Fort, perched along the cliffs above. Explore the imposing fort in the afternoon, where the whole of Rajasthan seems to sweep out before you.

  5. Days 7-8: Bundi, Rajasthan, India

    Leave the charming chaos of the city behind as you journey south across Rajasthan’s sleepy countryside, where ancient walled city of Bundi awaits. Away from the crowds, this captivating city is brimming with jewel bright murals, extravagant stepwells and an extraordinary hillside palace – a feast for the senses. Built against the rampart walls of the city, Bundi Vilas makes for an enchanting stay; full of Rajasthani crafts and original features, history seems alive as you gaze across astounding views of the palace and Jait Sagar lake below. Spend your afternoon on a guided tour of Bundi, visiting its ornate forts, palaces, stepwell reservoirs and the Taragarh Fort, before retreating to Bundi Vilas to enjoy a sumptuous feasting on home cooked food on the roof terrace.

  6. Days 8-10: Udaipur

    In the morning, you will be driven to Udaipur via Chittogarh Fort, one of the most outstanding forts in the whole of India. Chittogarh was the jewel in world's longest ruling dynasty, the Kingdom of Mewar, and with panoramic views over Gambhiri River, it is an astounding site to behold.  

    The exquisite lakeside city of Udaipur sits on the wide plains of Rajasthan, and your charming 17th Century haveli boasts spectacular vistas over the glittering waters of Lake Pichola. The following morning, step away from the everyday as you cycle through the serene countryside that surrounds the city before unearthing Udaipur’s treasures where temples gleam, gardens offer dappled shade and palaces are mirrored in the limpid waters of the lake.

  7. Days 10-12: Chanoud, Rajasthan, India

    Fall into a different pace as you experience rural life at Chanoud Garh. After leaving Udaipur, you drive to the sleepy village of Chanoud, across the sands of the Thar Desert. At Chanoud Garh relish in a captivating blend of history and luxury, where for 300 years the palace has stood overlooking the stark beauty of the desert. Delve into Rajasthan’s rural culture or merely unwind in the lush gardens where time stands still.  Spend your time enjoying guided walks to the local village, cooking lessons and jeep safaris through the surrounding farmlands and salt-pans beyond.

  8. Days 12-14: Jodhpur

    On your twelfth day you leave the countryside and journey back to the north’s vibrant cities. Your final destination is the ancient city of Jodhpur, home to the mighty. Mehrangarh Fort. Explore the streets from the Ranbunka Palace, an enchanting testament to a bygone era. With the afternoon at your leisure, recline by the pool or perhaps indulge in some relaxation and book a treatment in the hotel spa. Your last day is spent discovering the ‘Blue City’ with your guide, where Mehrangarh Fort sits above the streets and the markets beckon with local wares.

  9. Days 14-15: Delhi

    The trip draws to a close on the morning of day 14 as you are driven to Jodhpur Airport in time to catch a flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi you are transferred to the Pullman, a large contemporary hotel conveniently located close to the airport. The following day you leave India’s pull behind as you enter Delhi’s international airport in time to board your flight back home.
