Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away during cold winter months.

Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It’s the hottest season so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get great value for money if you don’t mind the heat. In western Rajasthan temperatures may soar, particularly in May and June, so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.

The monsoon season usually runs from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. During this period 90% of the rain Rajasthan occurs, although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall. Lakes and rivers will be higher and there's more colour to the landscape.

October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. Expect warm and sunny weather, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Please note that hotels are at their busiest over the Christmas and New Year period. December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also normal to expect some fog in the major cities of northern Rajasthan in December and January.

You’ll stay at the centrally located Imperial for the next two nights. Scramble through Delhi’s streets and uncover renowned historic sites on a private tour lead by one of our expert guides. From the magnificent Red Fort which stands imperiously in Old Delhi, to the mighty Jama Masji that offers perplexing views of the city, we’ll make sure you leave no Delhi stone unturned. Get your heart racing as you whiz around the streets in a local rickshaw and tempt your tastebuds with local delicacies in Old Delhi’s famous market.

Agra

Hop on the train and head two hours south to the spellbinding city of Agra, home to the unmissable Taj Mahal. Here, you’ll stay at the opulent ITC Mughal Agra, situated just a stone’s throw away from the symbolic mosque, making it an ideal base for the night. Your first day here will encompass the lesser-known attractions of this Mughal empire. Amble along the streets and you’ll stumble across the noble fort, a liberal sprinkling of fascinating tombs and chambers, and the hustle and bustle of countless ‘chowks’. The history is captivating, and your guide will be on hand to bring it all to life for you. In the evening, plunge in the pool, repose on the terrace and indulge in one of the hotel’s international cuisine restaurants before getting a good night’s rest in preparation for tomorrow’s early start.

Accommodation: ITC Mughal Agra ( 1 night )
Day 4-6

Jaipur

To ensure you get a good glimpse of what is widely considered to be the most beautiful building in the world, we will arrange a sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal before your journey continues through India. Sit back in awe and get your cameras ready as the sun begins to rise and the Taj’s colour slowly changes as the light touches its surface. From here, you’ll drive four hours west to Jaipur, with a pitstop in the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri to break up your journey. Samode Haveli is your home for the next two nights and with its central location, it is perfect to explore the city by foot.

Delve into the radiant metropolis of Jaipur, where frenetic streets ebb and flow with a euphoric brew of old and new. Your guide will pluck out the must-see sites of the city and help you unveil Jaipur’s best-kept secrets. Marvel at the impressive City Palace and perfectly pink-painted Hawa Mahal. Spiral to the top of the notable Isarlat for breathtaking views of the city skyline, and meander through the labyrinthian narrow streets of the historic Amber village.
