Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away during cold winter months.

Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It’s the hottest season so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get great value for money if you don’t mind the heat. In western Rajasthan temperatures may soar, particularly in May and June. The monsoon season usually runs from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. During this period 90% of the rain Rajasthan occurs, although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall. Lakes and rivers will be higher and there's more colour to the landscape.

October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. Expect warm and sunny weather, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Please note that hotels are at their busiest over the Christmas and New Year period. December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also normal to expect some fog in the major cities of northern Rajasthan in December and January.

This eight-night itinerary provides a brilliant introduction to Rajasthan. Moving every two nights, you’ll be able to experience the beauty and diversity of this region with stops visits to Delhi, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaipur. Stunningly beautiful and full of romance, Rajasthan is a part of India not to be missed.

  1. Days 1-3: Delhi

Starting in Delhi you will have two nights to soak up all the city has to offer. We have included a private guide for you on your full day in the city to show you all the highlights. With a bigger population than Australia, Delhi always has something exciting going on. At times, frenetic but always interesting! With your private guide you will be able to make stops at the Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque and a tour through the beautiful colonial era buildings of Old Delhi.

    Accommodation: The Claridges (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-5: Jodhpur

From Delhi you will take a short internal flight to Jodhpur where you will be spending the next two nights. Known as the Blue City, owing to the Old Town masked in blue paint and is striking against the earthy tones of the Mehrangarh Fort. The Fort itself is one of the most beautiful in Rajasthan and we have of course included a guided tour for you, alongside dipping into the vibrant markets full of heady spices, silks and lovely leather goods.

    Accommodation: Ratan Vilas (2 nights)

  3. Days 5-7: Udaipur

Then it is on to Udaipur which you will reach after a scenic drive south from Jodphur, taking just under five hours. Surrounding Lake Pichola, Udaipur is undoubtedly the most picturesque and beautiful city in Rajasthan. With an array of intertwining side streets, there is a wealth to explore; from the vibrant art scene and local bazaars to spending a relaxing afternoon on a boat ride along the lake. As with Delhi and Jodhpur you will have a private guide and driver with you, to make exploring the city as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Accommodation: The Trident Udaipur (2 nights)

  4. Days 7-9: Jaipur

For your final stop in Rajasthan you will take another short flight to Jaipur where you spend your final two nights of the trip. As the capital of Rajasthan this is an ideal city to have as your last on your visit to India. Designed in the 18th century, the city has been laid out to best display the wealth of Maharaja Jai Singh with beautiful palaces, parades, and gardens. As Jodhpur is known as the Blue City, Jaipur is known as the Pink, due to the fact it was painted entirely in the colour in honour of the Prince of Wales in 1876. With your guide you will be able to explore such highlights as Hawa Mahal, the Old Bazaars and of course the wonderfully impressive Amber Fort. On departure from Jaipur your guide will help you to the airport for your onward flight home or indeed to your next destination for your holiday.
