Perched high on the ‘roof of the world’, Tibet experiences a diverse plateau climate, with temperatures decreasing as you increase in altitude and latitude. Lhasa is pleasant year-round, with warm summers and chilly winters, but plenty of sunshine year round. Interestingly, most of the rain falls at night, making exploring the city a joy even during the rainier summer months. Due to its extreme altitude, Tibet experiences the strongest solar radiation in China, so you can expect plenty of sunshine! The winter months are predictably cold, with a surprising lack of snow for such a mountainous region. Temperature variations in a 24-hour period can be startling, often showcasing ‘four seasons in one day’ so be sure to pack plenty of layers for your Tibetan adventure.

Located in the Baiba town of Tingri and just 100 kilometre away from the majestic Mount Everest, Tingri Bebar Hotel is presently the best available hotel as your base before heading into the Everest Base Camp.

There are 180 beds within the hotel with 24-hour hot and cold water, air conditioner and wireless network services, though its remote location means that connectivity can become limited. For dining, guests can head to the in-house restaurant which serves both Chinese and Western food.

The hotel is closed during the winter due to rough weather condition.
