Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
With scorching summers, cold winters, temperate springs and pleasant autumns, Beijing and its surrounding area experiences four distinct seasons. During the summer months, the mercury can reach over 40°C, bringing monsoon rains and extreme humidity, despite being the peak season for travel. From November through to March, northern winds whip through the city, seeing temperatures tumble to as low as -20°C in January, the coldest month. Springtime is windy yet pleasant, although sandstorms from Mongolia sweep through at this time of year making outdoor sightseeing uncomfortable. The Autumn months are the perfect time to travel, with fewer tourists and the most clement weather for exploring the city.

Description
Housed within a restored mansion amongst the ancient hutongs of Beijing, Cours et Pavillions is a 7-room luxury boutique hotel that seamlessly blends imperial grandeur with contemporary Chinese style.
Cours et Pavillons is an intimate boutique hotel nestled amongst the ancient hutongs of Beijing. Sensitively resorted and brimming with character, this collection of dwellings built in the traditional courtyard style offers a glimpse into China’s imperial past whilst upholding true 5-star luxury standards.
With just 7 stylish rooms, each subtly different in size and style, the hotel feels like a home from home. Decorated in either the Han or Qing fashion, each room is bedecked with antiquities and art from the owner’s private collection, complimenting the traditional carved furniture and opulent fabrics. King-sized beds, air-conditioning, high speed Wi-Fi and rainforest showers have catapulted this historic property into the modern age. A contemporary glass roof connects the central courtyard lobby with the surrounding buildings and temple-like grounds, which feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of China’s capital city just outside.
Housed within the Wei Jia courtyard is the French Restaurant, where the cuisine blends classical French gastronomy with the best local and seasonal ingredients. Expect dishes like manuka honey duck with morels, courgette and truffled turnips, or lobster noisette with pomelo, sea urchin and cauliflower. The hutongs on your doorstep are lined with arts and crafts shops, traditional restaurants and characterful homes. A short stroll from the hotel will reward you with old winding streets and the National Art Museum of China, yet you are far enough away from the main hub of the city to feel relaxed and able to soak up the hallowed atmosphere of the hutongs. Only a short journey by car are the main attractions of the city, from the vast expanse of Tiananmen Square and the peaceful Temple of Heaven, to the stunning architecture and imperial beauty of the Forbidden City. Cours et Pavillons is the perfect retreat from modern Beijing, for those seeking style, comfort and a sense of individuality, off the beaten track of the well-worn tourist path. This is authentic Beijing at its best.
