Monday 4th December

Snake sledging 5.45pm: The floodlit nursery slope at the base of Val d’Isère is taken over by conjoined snake sledges for groups of up to 10 people. A great fun, family activity.

Tuesday 5th January

Behind the scenes in Val d’Isère 1.50pm: Ever wondered how the piste control engineers set off a controlled avalanche? In this behind the scenes talk, the piste control will reveal all about how they use the cable transported explosives to keep the pistes safe from avalanches.

Airboard contest 5.45pm: Bodyboards on snow! Have a go at this great aprés ski event for the family on the Savonette nursery slope.

Wednesday 6th January

Russian Christmas snow show 6pm: To celebrate Russian Christmas, the ESF ski instructors will be putting on their new snow show. A torchlight descent, firework display and free mulled wine, this is an event not to be missed.

Thursday 7th January

Airstar Night Light 6pm: The town center shuts down to cars for the weekly Night Light show. The new version of the show for the 2015/16 winter is set to illuminate the main street and square with a colorful light show. Live music and DJs, ice carving demonstrations and free hot chocolate and vin chaud.  6-7.30pm on the Avenue Olympique.

Friday 8th January

Yooner sledging 5.45pm: These light, maneuverable single ski sledges are so much fun. Fly down the Savonette piste under the floodlights.

With Christmas over and everything gearing up for the New Year celebrations, here’s a roundup of everything going on in Val d’Isère next week, including ticket information for the biggest New Year’s Eve parties. 

Monday 28th December

Family ski racing cup 2pm: Family giant slalom competition, of which teams must be made of two generations of a family, taking place on Le Raye slope.

Snake sledging 5.45pm: The floodlit nursery slope at the base of Val d’Isère is taken over by conjoined snake sledges for groups of up to 10 people. A great fun, family activity.

Lost Frequencies at Doudoune: Doudoune club is hosting one of the breakthrough acts of 2014/15, as Lost Frequencies is coming to Val d’Isère. The Belgian DJ/musician, known worldwide for his smash hit “Are You With Me”, is performing live in Doudoune on Monday 28th December, in what is expected to be a sell out show. Tuesday 29th December

Torchlight Descent and Firework show 6pm: Not to be missed, this is truly one of the most fun events in resort. The ESF ski school instructors descend the legendary Le Face piste in the pitch black. Get there nice and early as it gets busy. Watch the video below to get an idea of what the torchlight descent is all about.

Wednesday 30th December

Behind the scenes in Val d’Isère 3.45pm: Ever wondered how artificial snow is made or how the Olympique cable car works? The tourist office and lift pass company are offering the chance to find out as they let a group behind the scenes in the Olympique cable car machine room. Talk is in French and English. You must sign up at the tourist office before 3pm Wednesday.

Airboard contest 5.45pm: Bodyboards on snow! Take a few practice runs at the slalom course and sign up for the race for a chance to win some prizes from Bollé. A great aprés ski event for the family.

Thursday 31st December- New Year’s eve

Airstar Night Light 6pm: The town center shuts down to cars for the first Night Light show of the season. The new version of the show for the 2015/16 winter is set to illuminate the main street and square with a colorful light show. Live music and DJs, ice carving demonstrations and free hot chocolate and vin chaud. A lively event to start off your New Year’s Eve. 6-7.30pm on the Avenue Olympique.

Where to see in the New Year?

Doudoune Club: Doudoune are hosting their annual New Year’s Eve party, which is set to be one of their biggest yet. €30 entry on the door, with the 2,000 tickets expected to be taken, it is best to arrive nice and early. Why not warm up with Aprés Ski upstairs at Cocorico before? Doudoune opens at 10.30pm, Cocorico 2pm-8pm with live music and happy hour deals. Dicks Tea Bar: An institution in Val d’Isère, Dicks Tea Bar is hosting its 1920s Prohibition party on New Year’s Eve. Champagne reception and dessert canapés on arrival, this New Year promises to be full of surprises at Dicks Tea Bar, with live entertainment and “wild shenanigans”, Dicks is one of the places to be seen this New Year’s Eve. This weekly round up will give you a breakdown of everything going on in Val d’Isère next week, helping you have an amazing Christmas in resort.

Monday 21st December:

Snake sledging 5.45pm: The floodlit nursery slope at the base of Val d’Isère is taken over by conjoined snake sledges for groups of up to 10 people. A great fun, family activity.

Tuesday 22nd December: 

Ski instructors Christmas show 6pm: Instructors from the French National Ski School present a show on the legendary piste La Face. They will be descending the former Olympic downhill pistes carrying torches, showing off everything from télémark to freestyle. The evening will be capped off with a firework display and vin chaud served by the instructors themselves. The viewing area will be at the base of the slope.

Wednesday 23rd December: 

Tour of the farm 9.30-11am: The Adroit farm are opening their doors to a guided tour group. See the animals, help milk the cows and see how cheese is made. Sign up in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.

Christmas magic show 6pm: A magic show for all the family in the conference center. It is free entrance, but spaces are limited. The show lasts 1 hour 20 minutes and is for children aged 4 and upwards.

Thursday 24th December:

Father Christmas on the slopes 1-4pm: The Solaise beginner area (at the top of the Solaise Express chairlift and cable car) will be taken over by Father Christmas for fun and games. Children between 4-8 are encouraged to draw a picture and bring it with them, with the best picture being presented a prize by Father Christmas on the stage on the main street at 4.45pm.

Father Christmas comes to town 5pm: Father Christmas and his helpers will be arriving on his sleigh at 5pm. Join them on the stage to hand in your Christmas lists and have your photo taken. There will also be a face painting at the tourist office from 3pm.

Friday 25th December:

Floodlit dual slalom 5.45pm: A floodlit Christmas day race on the Savonnette piste in the village. The side by side slalom course is a knockout race, with the fastest going through to the next round. Three categories Children (born in or after 2004), Men and Women, with 16 places in the Women’s category and 32 in the Men’s and Children’s category. There’s a pair of Dynastar skis to be won in each category.
