In the southern half of Australia the seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere: spring comes in September, summer is from December to February, autumn runs from March to May, and winter begins in June.
Sydney is great to visit year round but if you want warm sun and dry weather it is best to try between November and April. Their winter months of May - October usually have mild weather so you can still enjoy all the sights.

Pretty Beach House is a private guesthouse situated 100 kilometres north of Sydney on the Bouddi Peninsula. The property is set high on the escarpment above Pretty Beach and nestled into the Bouddi National Park, surrounded by native gum trees.
Tucked away on a beautiful peninsula just north of the centre of Sydney, guests are welcomed to Pretty Beach House as if to a private home. With only four, one-bedroom pavilions surrounding the Main House on the seven and a half acre property, you are offered privacy with round-the-clock service with all meals, snacks and drinks, including wines and champagnes, included as part of the hospitality.
The pavilions Treetops, Bayview, Hideaway and The Retreat have views through the mass of ancient angophoras and native eucalypts down onto the sparkling Brisbane Waters. The pavilions offer king bedrooms with separate dressing rooms, open-plan sitting areas oriented to take advantage of the views, fully stocked bars and combustion log fireplaces. The dining and lounge areas and bathrooms lead on to private decks with day beds and heated plunge pools. The decor is simple and strong, with tub chairs in vintage leather, 1930's travel trunks, hand crafted tables and fine Belgian linen.
The Main House, situated at the heart of the property, has an atrium style dining and lounging area, intimate cocktail bar, wine cellar, open fireplace plus infinity pool and deck. Interiors complement the bushland surroundings, featuring local sandstone and recycled timbers. Local artists have taken advantage of the fallen angophora branches and created sculptures that feature throughout.
The property prides itself on its cuisine, and Italian born Stefano Manfredi's influence is evident in every aspect of the culinary delights at Pretty Beach House. Dine in the atrium dining rom, privately within your own pavilion, in the wine cellar or al fresco on the landscaped property. An extensive range of premium wines and spirits has been selected to complement the gastronomic experience, with a wine cellar stocked with rare old and new world wines for the connoisseur.
The serene bush setting offers rest and relaxation however it can also become the centre of a full expedition experience. Excursions range from a professionally guided bush walk or a cruise for a picnic on one of the many secluded bays, right through to a fishing excursion on board the 38 foot Pretty Beach Launch CABO sports cruiser. Following a day of acitivity, why not indulge in a personalised massage or spa treatment in the privacy of your pavilion?
Transportation is offered to and from Pretty Beach itself as well as to Hardys Bay, Killcare and Wagstaffe, where ferries run regularly to and from Palm Beach.
Pretty Beach House boasts four stunning Pavilions set within the beautiful grounds, surrounded by twisted angophora trees with views of the ocean. All pavilions include breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning and afternoon teas, snacks, non alcoholic beverages, a considered selection of alcoholic beverages featuring premium wines, champagne and spirits.
The Bayview Pavilion boasts a king bed, heated plunge pool, private deck and fireplace.
Our personal favourite, the Hideaway Pavilion, boasts a larger living space, king bed, heated plunge pool, private deck, fireplace and is the most secluded of the three.
The Treetops Pavilion is the largest pavilion and is spread over 2 levels. Treetops boasts king bed downstairs with luxury bathroom, heated plunge pool, private deck, fireplace, separate living space upstairs, second bathroom, heated flooring and a private day bed.
Children are not permitted at Pretty Beach House, unless all four Pavilions are booked out exclusively.
Celebrated chef Stefano Manfredi oversees the food at Pretty Beach House, with his signature Italian cuisine available all day, ‘casalinga style’. Seasonal menu offerings may change based on fresh produce harvested daily.
Guests may dine in the atrium dining room, privately within their own pavilion, in the wine cellar or al fresco on the landscaped property. An extensive range of premium wines and spirits has been selected to complete the gastronomic experience. For those looking even further, the wine cellar is stocked with rare old and new world wines.
Excursions can be as simple as a professionally guided bushwalk with many well-marked coastal walking trails in the surrounding natural wonder of the Bouddi National Park.
Lobster Beach, Box Head and the surf break at Tallow Beach are all within easy walking distance, while Killcare surf beach, Maitland Bay and the seaside villages of Killcare, Wagstaffe and Hardy's Bay are close by.

My time at Pretty Beach House was a memorable one. From the moment I arrived after a long flight from London, I felt completely relaxed and at home. With just four bedrooms in total, Pretty Beach House feels cosy and exclusive - as though you're staying with friends. The team that work here are wonderful and really personalise the service. The food is superb and arguably a highlight of the stay; there is also a very impressive wine cellar.
The property has been beautifully designed with large glass windows offering views across the water and Bouddi National Park. Its easy to lose track of time on your private balcony, by the pool or in the lounge, taking in the scenery. However, if you'd rather be more active, there's still plenty to do at Pretty Beach House: go on self-guided bush walks, explore the nearby beaches and take part in an authentic indigenous smoking ceremony - a truly unique experience.

Pretty Beach House is located just 100km north of Sydney and it really is a beautiful destination for a 2 or 3 night stay. It's much more like a home than a hotel and the food and drink is truly amazing here! The Italian chef, Stefano Manfredi produces fantastic meals and you can either eat in the dining room or dine in your own pavilion which is incredibly private and romantic - perfect for honeymoons. The pavilions have stunning views across the Brisbane Waters and inside they are beautifully decorated with their own log fireplaces too. There is plenty to do depending how active or lazy you're feeling. I loved the bush walks nearby and then went to the beach for the rest of the day to chill out. The beaches are really stunning in this part of the world. Pretty Beach House is a real favourite and so easy to get to from Sydney.
