Meet the wildlife and immerse yourself in the spectacular scenery of Prince William Sound aboard your own private yacht, the Sea Mist. Captained by experienced owner, Jeff Gorton, the crew also includes a talented chef and friendly steward. A Sea Mist cruise is a treat, allowing up to six guests to choose their own exclusive itinerary, excursions, and activities. Cruises on the 78-foot yacht depart and end in Whittier and explore the waters, glaciers, and wildlife of Prince William Sound. Most groups opt for a 5-day and 4-night itinerary, but longer options are available.
Onboard, the experienced crew provide the hospitality, expertise, and fun, allowing guests to sit back, relax and soak up the glorious scenery. The Sea Mist features spacious interiors, luxe touches, expansive windows and high 7-foot ceilings. State-of-the-art stabilisers ensure a smooth ride, and the ship is a USCG 5-star certified vessel, which means it exceeds the Alaska requirements for passenger safety. Jeff is a native Alaskan and has been navigating these waters for decades and can provide guests with ‘local access,’ to some of Alaska’s hidden treasures.
The main salon doubles up as the dining room and offers relaxed and comfortable seating with the scope to plug in monitors to watch movies, as well as viewing guests’ photographs and videos. Guests can also enjoy relaxing on the outdoor deck with a drink and a book. The three private State Rooms and 3.5 bathrooms are spread over three levels. Each State Room features luxurious twin beds and linens, ensuite bathroom and generous closet space. Select the Chinnok Suite for a Queen bed and twin, along with extra space.
Guests dine on custom-prepared dishes which utilise local and organic produce where possible. Breakfasts are made to order, and lunches are light seafood affairs, while evening dining offers more formal multi-course delights. The accomplished chef will also cook and prepare fresh oysters picked up from an oyster farm visit and shrimp caught from the boat. Along with food snacks, house beer and wine are included, although speciality beer, fine wines, and spirits incur extra charges.
Passengers decide the itinerary, excursions, and activities they wish to enjoy, and the boat features a 14-foot tender, 4 kayaks, and two stand-up paddleboards to facilitate this. Popular activities include kayaking the peaceful coves, hiking the trails of old-growth forest, stand-up paddleboarding, glacier visits, photography, whale, and wildlife watching. Along with the whales, look out for sea otters, seals, porpoises, and jellyfish in the waters, as well as bald eagles overhead.
