Maui is a year round destination with a tropical climate, with the very best months being April to September. Temperatures are high throughout the year but never excessive, as humidity levels are manageable. There is a rainy season from December to March which is also ironically, the tourism high season, when the scenery is at its most lush and long, hot days break up the rainy spells.

I didn't actually stay here but by the end of my look around, I wanted to check right in! From the welcome when I was handed a wonderfully chilled glass of lemonade laced with locally grown lavender which was simply delicious, I knew this was my kind of place. The first thing is the style; this is a contemporary hotel, fresh and clean yet wonderfully inviting. There's no floral chintz which is a staple of many a Hawaiian hotel. Instead, you're introduced to residential style living that makes you sit down and relax as if at home. You're right on the beach here in the Northern part of Wailea, at the end of the footpath, with a tiered swimming pool leading you down from the lobby toward the lawns and then the ocean. It's pretty buzzy when I get there, there's a wedding party in house and they're having a bit of a pool party in the jacuzzi. Apparently this is rather unusual and it's normally a lot quieter in this part of the resort, upon further inspection of the hotel, I'm inclined to believe that. I love the adult only serenity pool, bordered by the splash suites which lead out to their very own piece of pool and a stone's throw from the spa, this is a perfect adult environment to retreat to. The main pools are where the families head and enjoy at their leisure. The lawns are great for running around on and the beach is golden and safe to swim off. For a family who like something a little more modern, this is ideal and the accommodation can lend itself very well for families. They offer some fabulous suites which offer huge amounts of living space and a very modern experience, they're down by the ocean and if the budget will extend to it, they're the best place to be. I could go on and on about this hotel but mostly it's a fresh new offering for Wailea and whilst the service may not be quite up to the Four Seasons, the relaxed and friendly nature of the experience is well worth giving it a try for.
