Kandy
Cocooned in the jungle’s embrace, and seemingly cut off from the rest of the country, Kandy is a vibrant splash of colour in the midst of a sea of emerald green. With pastel-hued bungalows and colonial shuttered buildings surrounding the large lake at its heart, Kandy is a charming city with a rich history and deep religious importance.

Eminently walkable, Kandy’s streets welcome visitors to explore their veranda-fronted homes, balconies heavy with bougainvillea and frangipani, and lively restaurants and bars. Explore the famous Temple of the Tooth, bustling with worshippers, and watch as pilgrims come to pay their respects to the golden casket said to contain the Buddha’s tooth.
