Activities at Grootbos
Grootbos is known for its stunning scenery and its abundance of beautiful floral species. This is best enjoyed on a variety of scenic walks including guided fynbos nature walks and milkwood walks. If you would prefer to stroll through the reserve on your own then a variety of trails are on offer and the lodge will provide maps for you.
Speciality guides are also on hand to take you on fynbos drives through the reserve, on specialised bird watching trips, on marine coastal drives looking out for whales (July-December), as well as drives through the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, De Kelders cliff walk and Klipgat Cave.
Another way to enjoy this stunning reserve is on horseback, which is available for non- and experienced riders. Please note that the weight limit is 90kg/198lbs per person/ children under the age of 12 are only allowed on guided pony rides).
For an additional cost there is a variety of other activities on offer from Grootbos such as whale watching boat trips, boat trips to Dyer Island, beach horse riding, scenic flights, quad biking, kayaking and wine tours – please speak to your consultant to book these in advance.
