The rainy season in Johannesburg begins in October and continues through April, with intermittent mild showers occurring throughout that season. Winters are very dry, generally mild with cold clear evenings and bright, sunny days with mild to warm temperatures. Snow and rain in the winter time are almost unheard of.
Travellers interested in spending time in the area during the local events and festivals which characterize the culture there will probably find that autumn is the season to head to Johannesburg.

The Residence Houghton is a small elegant boutique hotel with just 11 suites in the Houghton suburb of Johannesburg. It is a wonderful oasis in this busy city, with hospitable staff to make you feel instantly at home.
The Residence Houghton is a stunning boutique hotel tucked away in the heart of one of Johannesburg’s most affluent and historic neighbourhoods, Houghton. The Residence is conveniently located to allow access to the city (both Johannesburg central and Sandton) as well as a variety of nearby attractions. Whatever your day may entail, rest assured – you’ll savour your return. Get active in one of the two swimming pools or on the tennis court, soak up the South African sun on the lawn and play a round of golf on the greens of nearby Houghton golf course.
Inside, the rich interiors of the Residence's ample public areas reflect an eclectic mix of modern and classic. French crystal chandeliers and grand pianos add a touch of nostalgia, a plush sense of comfort. This is further amplified in the 11 suites, each of which boast private, outdoor bath and shower, enormous beds and spacious balconies. The attention to detail here is duly noted. End your day surveying the skyline with its typically spectacular sunsets from the Sky Bar or pamper yourself with a relaxing treatment at the Residence Spa. Alternatively, retreat to your suite for a bath, made up to your liking from the exotic bath menu.
Accommodation
The luxury suites are elegantly decorated and extremely comfortable and the en-suite bathrooms are well appointed with under floor heating. For an added touch of luxury, you can request an exotic bath from the bath menu. The suites also have an outdoor shower, bath or Jacuzzi. Each of the suites has a Nespresso Machine with complimentary coffee pods and several suites even have a cosy fireplace for the cooler evenings. The Penthouse and Madiba Suites have large double doors which open out to a spacious deck and roof garden with a Jacuzzi. The Penthouse also has a spectacular skylight positioned above the bed.

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met by the hotel's Rolls Royce or Mercedes Viano and transferred to the hotel in around 25 minutes. At the hotel, there is the amazing Sky Bar which offers spectacular views over the suburbs and is a fantastic spot to enjoy a drink while the sun goes down.

The Residence has two swimming pools, one of which is heated meaning guests can enjoy a swim all year round, no matter what the temperature is. There is also a tennis court at the back of the hotel.
