Average time to visit

There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.

Little Garonga is the perfect lodge for those looking to get a secluded, intimate, and luxurious safari experience without the frills of a larger camp. The lodge is simplistic in its style and activities offered but by no means underwhelming. With fantastic, attentive, and friendly staff, every desire or need you may have will be attended to, often before you even ask. Meanwhile the guides offer wonderful expertise as they track the animals you wish to see, before every drive your guide will ask which animals you are hoping to see and do their best to accommodate your wishes. If you have any questions during or after the game drive, the guide is often around in the evening and more than happy to oblige. While you can easily return to your room for seclusion during your stay, the lodge offers communal dinners and promotes a feeling of community in which the small number of guests can interact and share their experiences. You never know what you might learn or whom you may meet. Little Garonga is the perfect lodge for those looking for an exclusive and simply luxurious safari on a budget.
