The Winelands are a wonderful year-round destination and enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, somewhat like the South of France, which is what makes the area perfect for grape-growing. Summer in Franschhoek is the reverse of the Northern hemisphere. The best season visit is September to March when it is hot, sunny and dry. From April to August it cools down with some rain.

To start planning your holiday to La Cotte House

La Cotte House and Cottage offer a luxurious home from home in a tranquil setting overlooking the Franschhoek Valley in South Africa's Cape Winelands. Accommodating up to ten guests, it's an ideal base for a family or group of friends.

A charming Cape Dutch-style house and cottage, La Cotte is a beautiful home from home in South Africa's Cape Winelands. Located in the outskirts of the charming town of Franschhoek which is brimming with restaurants, cafes, art galleries and surrounded by world-class vineyards, there is plenty to explore within easy reach. The property is located on one of the oldest Huguenot estates in the area, offering the ultimate in privacy and superb views stretching down the valley.

The main house has a spacious living room and adjoining large kitchen equipped with all the mod cons you'd expect. There are three bedrooms here, each ensuite and stylishly decorated with a blend of chic fabrics, country-style furnishings and local photographs. Many of the bathrooms have rolltop baths, too. Just a few metres away is a separate cottage with two ensuite bedrooms and a small lounge of its own. Both houses have a lovely terrace area which overlook a pretty dam covered with lilypads and dragonflies.

Set further down into the gardens is a swimming pool with loungers and a lawn, as well as a pool house with a sauna and shower. There is a housekeeper on site, and breakfasts can be provided daily or you can opt to self-cater. We can arrange for a private chef if you're celebrating a special occasion and want to eat in, although the abundance of some of South Africa's finest restaurants on your doorstop in and around Franschhoek mean most guests will eat out in the evenings.
