To start planning your holiday to GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca
GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca is conveniently located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Set on the outskirts of the city of Puno, the hotel is ideally located for wonderful views of the lake and exploring the region and the Uros reed Islands nearby.
The GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca is set on the banks of Lake Titicaca only 5 minutes from the nearby town of Puno. The GHL is the most comfortable hotel in the city of Puno itself, although it is important to note that it is not a deluxe hotel.
The 111 rooms and 12 suites have air-conditioning, television and minibar and are simply finished but reasonably comfortable and all have panoramic views of the lake, great for enjoying the beautiful sunrises. Other facilities include sauna, Jacuzzi and gym as well as a bar and a restaurant serving both Peruvian and international dishes.
The location itself is unique, on the banks of Lake Titicaca, where you can visit the artificial floating "totora" islands of the Uro Indians, the ancient inhabitants of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. A full day excursion can also be made to the island of Taquile, located 24 miles from Puno. The island is inhabited by 1,600 Quechua speaking Indians. On the island one can visit Pre-Inca ruins and see the ancient communal way of life of the local people. Nearby Puno has a lively market in amongst its narrow streets, selling an array of produce and handicrafts.

Children are welcome to come and stay at GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca however, there are no specific facilities available for them at the hotel.

Cultural visits include Sillustani, a pre-Incan burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo (34km north of Puno) famous for its chullpas, which are circular stone towers built to hold the remains of the most important authorities of the ancient inhabitants of Collao. You can also explore the artificial floating "totora" islands of the Uro Indians, the ancient inhabitants of Lake Titicaca and Puno for its markets selling an array of produce and handicrafts.
Ensconced in serenity and splendid isolation on the shore of a small island 5km (3 miles) from Puno, overlooking the expanse of Titicaca, this large, stark-white hotel, built in the late 1970s, may stick out on the banks of the lake, but it takes full advantage of its privileged or inconvenient location, depending on your perspective. Part of the luxury Libertador chain, the hotel has rooms that are spacious if a little bland, and about half have panoramic views of the lake. Those views, though, are spectacular. Service is excellent and the large, white-block hotel has soaring ceilings, but it doesn't have as much character as the better-value Sonesta Posada del Inca, which has views that are almost as good. The hotel is linked to the mainland by a causeway, and the only way back and forth to Puno is by taxi.
