Rim Hike trail W6a
The Rim Hike follows the western side of the ‘Grand Canyon’ offering dramatic views as the hike is 6 kilometres along a stony former donkey path at a high altitude.
The starting point can be either at Al Khitaym or Wadi Ghul depending on whether you would rather ascend or descend for the majority of the trip. For the most part you will be walking along the rim of An Nhakur Gorge (known as the Grand Canyon) and you will have fabulous views of Wadi en Nakhr. The route takes you through a couple of abandoned villages where you can stop to have a look around the fascinating stone huts that were only occupied 9 years earlier. If you want to extend this trek you could always combine it with the Abandoned Village Walk.
Please note that this trek cannot be done directly from the hotels in the mountains. You will need to travel by car to the start point, and then travel by car back to your hotel. The journey time each way can be 1-2 hours.
