The best time to visit Oman is between November and mid-March, when the cooler air brings the mountain scenery sharply into focus and daytime temperatures average at 25°C. For the rest of the year, much of Oman is oppressively hot and hazy, particularly between May and August.

Located in the mountainous Nizwa region, Sahab has been built entirely from local stone which even contains fossils, demonstrating the region's physical changes over the past 270 million years. Its rustic charm and fabulous views make this hotel special.

Perched on Jebel Akhdar itself, Sahab has breath-taking views across the mountains and one of the best sunsets in Oman as it is west-facing. It is built around a central garden area with an irregularly shaped swimming pool, perfect for relaxing in following a day's sightseeing in nearby Nizwa or trekking in the mountains. The hotel really does justice to its surroundings, making the most of the rocks and fossils of which it has been built around.

Sahab Lounge is a very comfortable place to sit and soak up the indigenous garden. The restaurant has an intimate and peaceful atmosphere. There is an inviting infinity pool and Jacuzzi for you to refresh in and lavish poolside furniture for you to relax in the sun and take in the panoramic views. The Sahab Snack Bar serves a light menu, snacks and beverages. The rooms are simple yet comfortable, and range from Studio Rooms to Balcony Terrace Rooms.

During your stay here you can be as active as you want or as relaxed as you want to be. There is a wide range of activities on offer if you are seeking adventure and sport, however, the poolside amenities are perfect for some rest and relaxation time. After an impressive climb of over 2000 metres into Omans Green Mountains, The Sahab is welcome stop. A small friendly hotel with a distinctly local feel, the Sahabs real USP is its lovely pool which overlooks a the stunning canyon below - a genuinely spectacular view. Food is relativly simple and the restaurant does not serve alcohol, but they do make some excellent juices and smoothies which are well worth trying. If you're travelling in the cooler months, take the short trek from the hotel to one of the neighbouring villages set into the cliff below - a memorable experience!


  • Abandoned Village Walk trail W6

    The Abandoned Village Walk is an easy-going trek along an ancient donkey path of approximately 2-hours 30-minutes to 3-hours passing through the curious abandoned village of As Sab.

  • Day trip to Nizwa {with the Friday Market}

    Nizwa was the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th Centuries and is one of the oldest cities in Oman. There is a lot to see here and in the surrounding area including a bustling Friday market, the restored Nizwa Fort and date farms.

  • Mountain Hike trail W10h

    The W10h trek is mostly along a goat’s path and it offers some of the most spectacular views into the wadis on the northern side of the Western Hajar mountains. The trek is an approximate 3 to 4-hour round trip.

  • Mountain Hike trail W9

    The W9 trek is 9 kilometres along a former donkey path in the Western Hajar mountains offering wonderful vistas of Wadi Bani Awf and the surrounding mountains.

  • Nizwa Fort and Souq with visit to Al Hamra

    A tour of Nizwa Market taking in this ancient city fort, souq markets and streets. Delve into the history of the once-capital of Oman as your guide brings to life existence in the old town. Travel to the village of Al Hamra to see traditional mud houses.

    Visit the local Friday market in Nizwa.

  • Rim Hike trail W6a

    The Rim Hike follows the western side of the ‘Grand Canyon’ offering dramatic views as the hike is 6 kilometres along a stony former donkey path at a high altitude.

  • Trekking in the Mountains

    Today you will go on a trek in the mountains with a private guide.

  • Via Ferrata on Jebel Shams

    Not for the faint-hearted, today's adventure will involve climbing up 200-metre cliffs to the top of Jebel Shams, Oman's highest mountain, with the assistance of a steel Via Ferrata cable.

  • Village Walk trail 18b

    The Village Walk is a delightful easy going walk through traditional mountain villages and gardens taking approximately 2 hours to complete in total.

  • Visit a Rose Plantation

    The distillation of rosewater in the Hajar mountains is a centuries-old tradition. Visit one of the distilleries to learn about the labour-intensive process to produce the rosewater, unique to this area of the country.

  • Wadi Shab Swimming Adventure

    Stop off at a wadi and enjoy the beautiful surroundings where you can enjoy a gentle walk, or even a swim in the water.

How to get there

It is a 7-hour 30-minute direct international flight to Muscat International Airport. Sahab is approximately 2-hour 30-minute road transfer from the airport.
