To my mind Guanajuato is the liveliest, most interesting and most scenic of all the cities on the colonial circuit from Mexico City, and a stay in this enchanting city is amply rewarded. Staying at Villa Maria Cristina will top this off extremely well. Due to the tangled geography of the city, it's about five minutes by taxi in to the heart of things, but is a little haven of peace, immaculately presented and super-efficiently run, and by far the best place in town.
