Smart design hotel, imaginatively constructed from the remains of a two historic building, celebrating Mexican art and culture, with gorgeous landscaped outdoor spaces and funky fresh interiors
The designers have done a wonderful job of making a feature piece of the exposed centuries’ old walls in many of the guestrooms which are complemented my calming muted colours, resulting in a spacious cool space
The most photogenic area must be the rooftop deck and bright blue-tiled swimming pool where you can splash about or sunbathe whilst enjoying views of the city, and on a clear day the plumes from nearby Popocatépetl volcano

Description
Cartesiano is a beautiful boutique property which proudly reflects Mexico's colonial heritage, while remaining decidedly modern. Lovingly transformed from two 18th Century colonial homes, this charming property is a perfect base for discovering Puebla.
Perched on the corner of one of Puebla's colourful streets, Cartesiano is a luxurious boutique property which offers a blend of contemporary and traditional accommodation across its three buildings, two of which have been transformed from 18th century colonial buildings and one of which is completely modern. Its design is striking and it complements the city's traditional architecture beautifully by seamlessly blending the old and the new.
The hotel boasts 78 guestrooms and suites, spread across all three buildings which are connected by internal patios. The 40 rooms in the modern building are contemporary and comfortable but relatively simple. In contrast, the suites in the colonial homes are also modern, but at the same time they give a tasteful nod to the city's roots with exposed brick walls and antique style wardrobes. Fabrics remain plush throughout and sofas, soft lighting and even fireplaces in some suites keep rooms feeling cosy.
Other facilities at Cartesiano include a fantastic restaurant which serves up mouthwatering Mexican delicacies from across the country, with a specific focus on Poblano cuisine. The atmosphere is lively and buzzing and makes it a firm favourite amongst visitors. There is also a smaller casual cafe for lighter dishes and snacks. For those who wish to relax, the rooftop is the place to be, with a blue tiled swimming pool looking out over Puebla's skyline, surrounded by loungers to enjoy the sun with a cocktail or premium tequila in hand. A small spa and fitness centre are also available to hotel guests.
Accommodation
There are 78 rooms and suites at Cartesiano, a handful in Los Arcos, a beautiful 18th century colonial mansion, 31 in Casa de los Dos Patios next door and accessed through the hotel's library and the remaining 40 in the hotel's modern building. All rooms have complimentary WiFi, 55 inch smart TVs, air-conditioning and inclusive in-room bar, along with Nespresso coffee machines and Ortigia bath amenities. Standard rooms have either a king bed or two queen beds.
Facilities
Centena Cuatro is the feature restaurant at Cartesiano and serves mouthwatering local cuisine with options to sit inside or out on the terrace with views over Puebla. Other facilities include a rooftop pool and lounge area, a separate cafe and a spa with four treatment rooms, a relaxing pool, Jacuzzi, Swedish sauna, steam room and a fitness centre.
