Average time to visit
Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

A truly special resort offering pure luxury, peace and relaxation in what can only be described as exquisite surrounds with the most attentive yet not intrusive service, the Royal Palm is an incredible hotel. The whole experience from start to finish could not be faltered, the food wonderful and the setting matched this. A good selection of room types perfect for couples and families. The kids club is just great and offers lots of activities and toys for the children. Indoor and outdoor space, offering a pool, sand pit and the cutest kids sun beds. They take the children to the beach for stargazing in tepees, show outdoor movies with popcorn and organise treasure hunts to keep the little ones entertained. The spa is vast and surrounds an outside pool and bar area. All in all a wonderful hotel and something not to be missed!

The Royal Palm is an elegant and stylish hotel situated on a stunning stretch of beach which is the perfect setting to watch the sunset. The suites are spacious, contemporary and have amazing bathrooms - the baths are standout! The quality of food in the hotel is superb and the service is as you would expect for such an high end property.
They have a wonderful children's club which has its own paddling pool and a programme of daily activities are arranged including evening cinema within the hotel gardens. The children can also dine at the kids club giving you a chance to have a more relaxing dinner if you wish.
A visit to the spa is also a must, this is one of the most beautiful in Mauritius and offers such a relaxing area and mixture of indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.

The Royal Palm hotel sets the benchmark for luxury hotels in Mauritius. The beach is not huge but is completely perfect; no coral, no seaweed just pure white sand with ever present turquoise water. Up from the beach are three infinity pools set amongst beautiful flowers and trees with the most comfortable sun loungers I've ever experienced. The rooms are all extremely spacious and luxurious and have incredible sea views. The spa has the real wow-factor and you can enjoy the incredible facilities whilst your children are having an equally great time in the nearby kids club where they are expertly looked after. There's also a great sports centre which even has a squash court. We ate at both La Brezza (Italian) and Le Bar Plage (beach side lunch restaurant) and the food was brilliant. On top of all of this the service is impeccable and the staff are all so friendly its hard to find any fault with this hotel!

The Royal Palm Mauritius has the very best of everything and is the perfect property for discerning guests looking for the finest accommodation together with exceptional cuisine and impeccable service. This property caters perfectly for couples and families alike with an impressive kids club to cater for all the little ones needs.
The Royal Palm is located on a stunning beach and is only a 10-15 minute walk in to Grand Baie where there is a selection of restaurants close by should you chose to eat out, however the food is so delicious at Royal Palm you may not want to leave.
Styled with a Mauritian yet contemporary feel, extra special touches like cashmere throws on the beds and rich silks, ensure you really do feel you are somewhere very special indeed. The spa has the real wow factor and one of the most impressive I have seen and is always popular so I would recommend letting us know in advance as we are happy to take care of any appointments for your arrival.
The sun beds by the pool are the most comfortable I have enjoyed and ensure that you can truly relax in total comfort. Great sporting facilities are available at the resort including the only hotel squash court on the island.
The resort helipad ensures you have the option of a swift helicopter transfer from the airport or the convenience to play a game of golf on the East Coast or further south where there are other helipads located.
