Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

This took me by surprise how much I liked the hotel despite it being so large. The rooms are done really nicely with great options for families and couples. The facilities are superb! I would definitely take my family here and take advantage of the amazing kids club and activities on offer. The beach is also one of the best on the island.

Troux aux Biches resort was a really good surprise for me, I really liked it. It has a fantastic main heart to the hotel with lots of different accommodation options with either lovely communal pools or private pools. The rooms are all up to date and done up to a high specification, there's also great family options. One of the best thing about the hotel is the fantastic white sandy beach at the front of the resort - definitely one of the best on the island!

Trou Aux Biches is the perfect resort hotel those looking for a larger resort with a great selection of activities and a wide choice of restaurants to dine at. Contemporary Mauritian styling, the accommodations are all very spacious. With seven swimming pools to choose from you can have a different view every day of the week. Some restaurants can get booked up in advance so we do recommend pre-booking and then you can always amend in resort if you prefer to change.

A larger resort however I thought this was a fabulous option for families travelling to Mauritius. The all year weather appeal also means that it is a great option at any time of the year.
I was particularly impressed with the kids club and the teen club here too. I can imagine that kids staying here make great friends and are extremely well looked after.
Being a larger resort it is not as personable as smaller properties on the island, however the facilities and activities completely out way the needs for this in my opinion.

Trou aux Biches, being a beachcomber hotel is a wonderful option for all ages but I felt as though it catered extremely well for families particularly with the family accommodation on offer. There is not just the main pool but also each block of rooms have a lap pool so saves you having to walk far. With 6 restaurants to choose from, there is plenty of choice.
