Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.

The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.

Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.

Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

The charming Paradise Cove Hotel & Spa is situated on the northern shores of Mauritius by Anse La Raie. Nestled in a tropical garden around a sheltered cove and beach, this small and intimate luxury boutique hotel is a romantic haven for couples.

Paradise Cove Hotel & Spa has stunning architecture and has recently been renovated and restyled. It is located on a secluded white sandy beach sheltered by a rocky peninsula on the north coast of Mauritius, offering panoramic views over the ocean and five islets.

This romantic, luxury hotel boasts a tropical garden with multicoloured hibiscus and fragrant frangipani. Paradise Cove offers a relaxed and traditional Mauritian atmosphere, and the in-house trained staff provide a discreet and personalised service that reinforces the feeling of being cocooned in an idyllic haven.

Paradise Cove places its emphasis very much on intimacy and luxury. There are 75 rooms, each accommodating two adults and all with balcony or terrace overlooking the lagoon. Their modern comfort blends harmoniously the indoors with the outdoors with a fresh colonial feel.

The four restaurants serve a mix of international, Mauritian and Creole food. There are also 'love nests' which are small huts for two built on stilts right on the beach amidst a coconut grove, ideal for couples wanting a romantic candlelit dinner to the sounds of the lapping waves of the cove. Perfect for a romantic setting.

A variety of complimentary water sports are available, including waterskiing, paddle boarding, windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling and kayaking. Scuba diving, kite surfing, submarine safaris, surf casting, big and small game fishing and parasailing are also available at an additional cost. Land activities include biking, fitness activities, tennis and yoga.

There are also plenty of excursions on offer to places such as the fishing village of Cap Malheureux, bicycle tours, endemic gardens, Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, Pirogue trips to Ile d'Ambre, speedboat trips to Ile de Paul and Virginie, full day catamaran trips with a barbecue lunch and sunset yacht cruises.

Having visited about 7 years ago, my return to Paradise Cove took me by surprise. The hotel looks fantastic. It has now got a really fresh and modern feel to the property with beautiful furniture and soft blue and white decor. It is ideal for honeymooners and couples looking for a more of a boutique style property with plenty of quirky quiet and intimate spots to relax and sunbathe. It is very good value and a real gem on the island.

Claire Walker (Staff)

A perfect couples retreat, small and boutique in style, this hotel has a very welcoming feel yet not too small. With views over nearby islands it provides a great setting to relax and enjoy the restaurants and spa on site. The rooms are perfect in size and contemporary in style and the hotel is ideal to team with a larger resort or is great for a long relaxing stay should you wish.

Kirsty Harper (Staff)

This is a perfect hotel for couples or honeymooners who are looking for a relaxing holiday, this boutique hotel is small in size and oozes romance with its little hideaway love nests and the infinity pool over looking the ocean. This is a lovely property to twin with another hotel if you would like to also experience a larger resort or a different part of the island.

Jack Mace (Staff)

Paradise Cove, found right at the top of the island, is a lovely option for couples and those looking for an intimate, romantic experience. It's also close enough to nip into the local town of Grand Baie where there are lots of shops, restaurants & bars.

Ana Albiol (Staff)

Paradise Cove offers incredible value and caters for adults aged 18 years and over so a great choice if you are having a couples break away. This intimate hotel has whitewashed decor with flashes of blue and has a very calming environment. The private beach is set around the small bay that comes back in to the resort so it is very secluded. We recommend pre-booking XO for dinner as it is incredibly popular. Just let us know and we will book on your behalf.

Alice Moseley (Staff)

As soon as you step into Paradise Cove you really do feel as though you have arrived in paradise. With it being a child free resort, which is very rare in Mauritius, you immediately feel relaxed. All the rooms are decorated in a light and airy style with a white and blue colour scheme. There are a couple of pools to choose from or a private cove to swim in. One of my favourite places in Mauritius and a true gem! For those golfers you can enjoy the Belle Mare Plage course which is 40 minutes away.
