Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

Having visited about 7 years ago, my return to Paradise Cove took me by surprise. The hotel looks fantastic. It has now got a really fresh and modern feel to the property with beautiful furniture and soft blue and white decor. It is ideal for honeymooners and couples looking for a more of a boutique style property with plenty of quirky quiet and intimate spots to relax and sunbathe. It is very good value and a real gem on the island.

A perfect couples retreat, small and boutique in style, this hotel has a very welcoming feel yet not too small. With views over nearby islands it provides a great setting to relax and enjoy the restaurants and spa on site. The rooms are perfect in size and contemporary in style and the hotel is ideal to team with a larger resort or is great for a long relaxing stay should you wish.

This is a perfect hotel for couples or honeymooners who are looking for a relaxing holiday, this boutique hotel is small in size and oozes romance with its little hideaway love nests and the infinity pool over looking the ocean. This is a lovely property to twin with another hotel if you would like to also experience a larger resort or a different part of the island.

Paradise Cove, found right at the top of the island, is a lovely option for couples and those looking for an intimate, romantic experience. It's also close enough to nip into the local town of Grand Baie where there are lots of shops, restaurants & bars.

Paradise Cove offers incredible value and caters for adults aged 18 years and over so a great choice if you are having a couples break away. This intimate hotel has whitewashed decor with flashes of blue and has a very calming environment. The private beach is set around the small bay that comes back in to the resort so it is very secluded. We recommend pre-booking XO for dinner as it is incredibly popular. Just let us know and we will book on your behalf.

As soon as you step into Paradise Cove you really do feel as though you have arrived in paradise. With it being a child free resort, which is very rare in Mauritius, you immediately feel relaxed. All the rooms are decorated in a light and airy style with a white and blue colour scheme. There are a couple of pools to choose from or a private cove to swim in. One of my favourite places in Mauritius and a true gem! For those golfers you can enjoy the Belle Mare Plage course which is 40 minutes away.
