Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

The most stunning backdrop greets you at Paradis, just as your breath is being taken away by the blue waters and sand you turn to see Le Morne towering over the resort and providing a wonderful setting. A family hotel with lots to offer, including land and water sports, golf, 4 restaurants, spa and a complimentary kids club. The setting and service make this hotel the perfect location for a family holiday - if your budget allows one of their stunning villas is a must!

With one of the most stunning backdrops I have seen, being located just under Le Morne this hotel is ideal for families with a range of facilities to keep everyone entertained including water sports, a children's club and golf. I would recommend the family suite which is ideal and allows you to all be under one roof but also with the parents having their own privacy.

Paradis is a set on one of the most stunning sets of coastline on the south of the island with a beach stretching 7km. The resort lends itself best to golfers, families and foodies. The golfers can enjoy the fantastic 18 hole course which is well groomed and has one of the most epic back drops of Le Morne Peak. For families there's an amazing kids club open from 9am-11pm for children 3-12; newly renovated this summer it has mini golf, a sand pit, bouncy castle, tv room and newly installed children's pool, all the while parents can be enjoyable the ample waters sports available or make use of the new spa! For the food lovers there's a choice of 8 restaurants with ever-changing menus so you'll never go bored.

The location of Paradis is enviable with a prime beach front position on a lovely stretch of beach and at the foot of Le Morne. Having been here since 1954 as a private home and then extended in 2001 to a hotel it has a real feel of an established resort.
The beach here is fabulous, one of the beast in Mauritius in my own opinion and Paradis has so much to offer everyone from families with a great kids club, great Clarins spa for parents, the golf on site and a vast array of watersports. Kite surfers will love this area with the suitability of the waters here and the kite surfing school.
Whilst the rooms are perhaps more of a classic Mauritian style, the dining is elegant and I can see why Prince Harry enjoyed his stay here as the atmosphere is refined yet relaxed!
For larger budgets I'd definitely look at the villas, great beach front location with private pool and bikes to get out and explore.

Set on the stunning Le Morne peninsula in the south of the island, this resort is good for families and couples alike. It has a fantastic water sports centre, kids club and is perfectly located for those wishing to explore surrounding areas. Why not visit Casela Park where you can zip wire, quad bike, and walk with lions. Views from the resort are beautiful with uninterrupted views out to the ocean, where you can watch the waves crash over the reef in the distance. On the other side of the resort is the stunning Le Morne mountain, making a perfect backdrop for the 18 hole championship golf course.

A hotel more suited for families with plenty of activities to keep all ages occupied. A children's club which is open until 11pm so parents can enjoy a quiet dinner knowing their little ones are in very good hands. Amazing setting with the Le Morne as the backdrop and a wonderful golf course sponsored by Omega. Fantastic water sports centre offering a wide range of activities. Plenty to do in the surrounding area whether that is zip wiring or visiting the Rhummerie.

The Paradis Hotel is a great resort for families that are looking for a fun filled holiday. It is in the stunning location of Le Morne in the South West of the Island. There is so much choice of activities and plenty of restaurants to choose from - there isn't time to get bored. You can learn to play golf or if you are already a keen golfer I cant think of a more beautiful course to play on with the local wild life to keep you company !. You will also get amazing sunsets.

Part of the Beachcomber Hotels group and sister property to the neighbouring Dinarobin, the Paradis commands an enviable position on a stunning long white sandy beach in the shadow of the stunning Le Morne Mountain.
This is no boutique hotel. Paradis boasts a wealth of facilities and amenities to keep even the most active guest amused. Anything from water sports to tennis, spin classes at the gym to a round of golf on the 18 hole golf course that is shared with the Dinarobin. There are no less than 8 restaurants between the two hotels, which you can interchange between, numerous bars and pools for guest use.
This is an active place to be, perfect for families, especially with older children, where theres plenty to keep them occupied all day long. There is a buzz here, its a fun place to be although you can still find a quiet spot to relax and unwind with a good book.
The accommodation is well thought out for families with interconnecting rooms and suites. They even have family suites with the second room specially set out with mini bathrobes, teddy bears and childrens bed linen. The bathrooms are a little dated but functional and spacious.
For large families they have some stunning 3 and 4 bedroom villas in contemporary style. They dont have pools but have direct beach access and huge garden areas. Theyre also in a quieter area of the resort so a good option if you dont want to be in the thick of it, but still want everything nearby.
Paradis does what it says on the tin. Its a large resort with lots going on. Good value and lots of choice, however, if you want somewhere small and intimate, this isnt the pace for you.
