Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

On the east coast of Mauritius surrounded by sugar plantations, Anahita offers family friendly suites and villas with excellent facilities, including a children's club for children aged from 8 months old and two golf courses on site.
Anahita Golf & Spa Resort is the epitome of a great family resort. At the heart of the estate overlooking the turquoise lagoon are the one, two and three bedroom suites and 28 luxury villas. The suites are situated on the ground, first or second floors and each has been crafted into an apartment-style, sleek and restful retreat with living areas and modern amenities, most also offering private plunge pools.
The villas are perfect for families wanting even more space, with plenty of areas both inside and outside, as well as very flexible dining options. Either option is useful for families preferring not to have a babysitter each night. The covered terrace has a living and dining area, giving you protection from the sun, and the pool has the option to be fenced off. We can arrange to have your fridge stocked on arrival, and you can also indulge in various in-villa beauty treatments.

The new Junior Suites offer sleek and contemporary accommodation with a cosy living area and veranda. The one, two and three bedroom prestige suites each have a private infinity plunge pool, dining area and kitchen and enjoy breathtaking views of the gardens, golf course or Indian Ocean. Ideally situated, they offer the ultimate in privacy and are just a short stroll away from the beach and resort amenities. There are 28 spacious three to five bedroom villas situated on the golf course, all with a private swimming pool, contemporary fitted kitchen and large outdoor patios and gardens. The villas offer either a view of the lagoon or the beautiful mountains of Mauritius. The large contemporary kitchen gives the flexibility to prepare a gourmet meal or, alternatively, guests can dine in the restaurant or 'dial-a-chef' for the evening. Your Villa Master coordinates the stocking of room refrigerators and pantry or the buying of household goods (charged at cost with a reasonable fee).
|One Bedroom Junior Suite - Garden View||
New for late 2016, the new junior suites have been built especially for those who do not require as much space as the larger prestige suites. Located by hole number 1 on the golf course, the suites span 60sqm and comprise of a bedroom, ensuite bathroom with bathtub, living area, kitchenette and private veranda with seating area.
|Five Bedroom Prestige Villa - Sea View||
Situated on the golf course and giving views of the Indian Ocean, these villas have been exquisitely conceived to provide a modern and enhanced living experience in a light and fresh setting.
Each five bedroom villa spans 550sqm and has its own entrance with inner courtyard, living space and contemporary fitted kitchen, a veranda with comfortable seating and dining areas and a private swimming pool and garden. There are five ensuite bedrooms (four with bathtubs) each with its own ensuite dressing room, as well as a guest powder room.
The children’s club is a good childcare facility, initially set up by Scott Dunn's Childcare Team. It is unique in its offering of taking children from as young as 8 months old up to 12 years, giving parents an opportunity to take a real break. Open daily from 8.30am to 8pm, the club is staffed by a highly trained team organising age appropriate activities. The east coast of Mauritius is home to a number of golf courses and this is where Anahita thrives. With the choice of 2 courses included in your stay, this is a wonderful option for a leisurely round of golf or a more competitive trip with loved ones. This resort is also a shining star when looking for a villa experience, often hard to come by in Mauritius without a heavy price tag. Bright, airy villas sit nestled into the golf course with the luxury of having the hub of the resort a short walk away where there are a variety of dining options to suit all. Feeling a little full after a scrumptious dinner at Signature? Jump on board one of the resorts golf buggies back to your villa before recharging your batteries ready for another fun filled day at Anahita, where you might enjoy a bike ride with friends/family or hop on the 10 minute boat ride to their second beach on Ils Aux Cerfs.
Hannah Fullagar (Staff)
Accommodation is what Anahita does best. Often villas in Mauritius can come with a pretty hefty price tag, but I was so impressed with the size and quality of the villas and suites at Anahita. No need to worry about kids on sofa beds and cots at the end of the bed when its so easy to find an option that provides more than enough space for the whole family.
Its worth noting that the beach at Anahita is, while adequate, not quite what you might expect from a tropical beach holiday. Its a little on the small side and the sand is a little coarse, but their second beach is just a short boat ride away at Ile Aux Cerfs and is a fantastic spot to spend a day. Its a much longer stretch of beautiful sandy beach, with all the facilities you would need so you can really set up camp for the day!
With a great range of dining options, plenty of activities and a fantastic kids club, its easy to see why Anahita remains such a popular option for a stress-free family holiday!
Melissa Channe (Staff)
Anahita is good for families who want accommodation with space and great facilities. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect if you want the option of cooking or dining in the resort restaurants from time to time. You can also have full breakfast delivered to your room at no extra cost. The kids club provides many activities for children aged between 8 months - 12 years and a teens club for 12 - 17 year olds.
Kirsty Harper (Staff)
Anahita offers beautiful suites and villas ideal for both families and couples. A perfect choice for guests looking for a more stand alone accommodation with the option to use a range of facilities including a wonderful children's club and restaurants. This is also a perfect choice for keen golfers with an 18 hole golf course on site and another nearby that can be used. The spacious accommodation is very contemporary in style with kitchen facilities, a lounge area and a pool so also works for those who would just like to relax.
Claire Walker (Staff)
A wonderful location with great views of the golf course and across the water. Anahita has great accommodation for families and is an ideal setting for any golf lovers. A large and open kids club makes it perfect for children whilst adults enjoy the beach, golfing or dining at their leisure. The villa accommodation is in a residential setting and offers incredibly spacious and charming rooms. With outdoor pools, large kitchens and family dining they are the perfect mix.
Emma Mark (Staff)
As an all suite and villa hotel Anahita is completely unique. I really liked the village like feel of the centre of the resort and the calm but friendly atmosphere around the main restaurant, Origine in the evening. Anahita has proved exceptionally popular for our families and I can certainly understand why - the accommodation is perfect (spacious and well equipped; even making it possible to self cater if preferred) and the kids club is perfect for kids of all ages but is unique in that it caters for younger children from 8 months and up (who can attend for a small charge) leaving parents to enjoy a well-earned break.
Jack Mace (Staff)
Anahita is a great choice for golfers and families alike. The accommodation options are very generous with their size and between the suites/villas there will be a perfect choice for your family. The kids club was set up by Scott Dunn and the children just won't want to leave giving the parents much deserved time to use the facilities. Although testing, the 18 hole golf course on Ile Aux Cerfs is definitely one to try if you're a keen golfer. With its undulating fairways and water hazards around every corner it's not for the faint hearted but it will give you an unforgettable round!
Ana Albiol (Staff)
Anahita the Resort is perfect for those who are seeking spacious home from home style accommodation, ranging from extremely spacious apartment style suites to larger villas with some backing on to the complimentary golf course. With the impressive children's club and facilities on offer, everyone can afford some time to themselves to enjoy all that is on offer knowing that the children are being very well looked after.
Alice Moseley (Staff)
Fantastic spot for families, with suite or villa accommodation on offer giving you extra space to enjoy especially with little ones in tow. All the suites have cooking facilities and you can pre-book anything from the shopping list so it is delivered ahead of your arrival. The hotel also has a choice of restaurants or if you want something lighter, there are a couple of small outlets serving freshly made sandwiches or ice cream and candy floss! Bicycles are on offer free of charge to get around the resort or if you're tired after a long day of playing golf, sailing, water skiing or the children running around in the kids club, golf buggies are there to take you back to your suites. Great family pool, or for a more relaxing swim, enjoy the adults only pool just below.
Louisa Currey (Staff)
Anahita is a wonderful and extremely family friendly resort. The suites and villas are very spacious and come with a private pool or plunge pool which is perfect to cool off in after a long day enjoying the sunshine. Little ones can be left to play with others their own age at the kids club, whilst adults can head over to the exclusive beach on Ile Aux Cerfs, or play a spot of golf. For the more adventurous try adventure park where you can go on high ropes and try out a range of watersports.
Victoria Douglas (Staff)
As a mum to two small children I can really appreciate just how well this resort will work as a family holiday and why our guests have such a great time here.
There are many ticks achieved here on the family check list. Firstly, the suites and villas are spacious enough for children to play and not feel on top of each other, there is an inviting outside space in the evenings where parents can relax or dine whilst the children sleep (inclusive of black out curtains) and a each suite or villa has fully functional kitchen complete with washer dryer - a god send with mucky little ones.
Secondly, there are so many activities on offer for all the family. Complimentary golf, tennis, watersports, a child friendly pool and excursions over to Ile aux Cerfs for beach picnics or exhilarating zip lining at Domaine d' Etoile whilst the little ones are looked after in the adventure playground.
Finally, and most importantly, the children's club with some of the nicest nannies I have come across. Expertly trained to look after children from 8 months to 12 years and incorporating fun activities at the club but also around the resort to keep their interest. Most children love the club so much that parents have a hard time getting the children to spend time with them!
I am really looking forward to returning here with my family one day!
Katie May (Staff)
Anahita is perfect for families. The accommodation, whilst not 100% polished, is of a good standard, and incredibly spacious. Children are really well looked after at the kids club with great facilities, including their own pool and a separate garden area for the littlest children. I would recommend leaving them there for a day, and heading to the nearby Domaine de l'Etoile (20 minutes drive) where you can quad bike, horse ride and zip wire your way around the stunning surroundings. I did the zip wiring; initially terrifying, but exhilarating. I want another go!
Mr James Michael Anderson (Guest)
The kids club was absolutely brilliant. Very friendly and extremely attentive. We felt very confident leaving the girls there. It was an extremely relaxing stay and made all the better by the very friendly and attentive care given to our two small children. Perfect getaway for family with young children
Gemma Dobson (Staff)
I loved Anahita when I visited with my daughter. It's the perfect place for families, as the accommodation is lovely and spacious and can cater for families of all sizes. The Residences either have two or three bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a comfortable living area, complete with oversized sofas and a dining table that can comfortably seat the whole family. There's a fully equipped modern kitchen if you would like to do any cooking, otherwise use the restaurants and just treat the fridge as an oversized mini bar! It's great to have the option of being able to self cater if you wish, and if you're travelling with children you can stock the large American style fridge with favourite drinks and snacks. Each Residence has a fully furnished terrace that runs the length of the property and which provides a great outdoor living space with a comfortable seating area, another dining table and a beautiful infinity-edge, raised plunge pool which can be fenced off if you have little ones! We just loved the space and the flexibility the accommodation gave us. Children of all ages will be kept well entertained by the team of fully trained CACHE nannies and they can even take their lunch and dinner at the club if they like, meaning you can enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation and maybe even lunch on your own!
We were very excited by the launch of the first OurSpace at the Mauritian resort of Anahita this summer. A kids club with a difference, the brand is owned and run by top-end operator, Scott Dunn but will be available to all resort guests, regardless who they book through. Taking kids from 8 months, you can expect fantastic childcare ratios and a great programme of fun activities for older kids. At Anahita, it has its own entrance, a sandpit, a swimming pool and separate rooms for sleep for babies and computer chill out for their older siblings. 38 euros per day including lunch (and dinner if required.)
