Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit Nha Trang is between March and April, although anytime during the dry season (January to August) is good. The average temperature is 26°C with a high of 32°C in summer (June, July and August), and a low of 21°C in winter (December to February).

Nha Trang is protected by the Truong Son mountains and this costal region of Vietnam is generally sunny all year round, with the exception of the wet season from August to mid-December, when you can expect strong sea breezes and chilly, wet weather.

Insider's View

Beach Villas are my favorite, huge two storey 'homes' directly on the beach with private pools. Water Villa 5 is also pretty spectacular, so private and with direct access into the crystal clear South China Sea.

The sunsets here are just sensational! To really make the most of them, why not go on a sunset cruise with a glass of champagne and some tasty nibbles!

A truly secluded retreat to relax and unwind in luxury.

Indulge in a traditional Vietnamese massage, which uses ‘cupping’ therapy as a great method of de-tox. The tranquil setting and master masseuse will make you feel transformed.

Take advantage of all the unique dining options at the hotel from the wine cellar, to dining on the bay, dining on the rocks – there are so many different places to enjoy

Make sure you do the Vietnamese cooking class, it's fantastic fun and full of recipes you will actually make when you get back home!

Try out the unique experience of dining in their wine cellar – it’s great fun and unlike anything else!

Enjoy a fresh juice every morning made from organic fruit and vegetables grown on their garden

Description

The exclusive Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is a rustic, barefoot, luxury resort at its very best, combining the legendary Six Senses service, food and facilities with a totally relaxed atmosphere and a stunning beach location.

This Six Senses resort is a spectacular luxurious beach property situated on secluded Ninh Van Bay on the beautiful central Vietnamese coastline. The impressive and dramatic rock formations of the bay overlook the South China Sea and the resort nestles into the hillside above the white sand beach. This is truly a magical place to relax and indulge yourself.

The 59 luxury private pool villas, all built to blend in with the natural environment, are designed either on the beach, over the water or into some of the amazing rock formations - and all come with their own private butler and are elegantly appointed with rustic natural woods and neutral fabrics.

With delicious cuisine served at the poolside, by the bay or on the rocks, you can choose your venue according to your mood. The seafood here is simply divine, with lobster, king prawn and fresh fish caught daily. Meals can also be enjoyed in several private locations around the resort including on the jetty, in your villa or even in the well stocked wine cellar.

The resort has a fantastic Six Senses spa where expertly trained therapists create sensory journeys for guests with a range of holistic wellness and pampering treatments. For the more active there is a wide range of water sports from diving to waterskiing, kayaking to fishing as well as tennis, volleyball and badminton.

Fantastic resort for families with slightly older children - loads to do and something for everyone. The bay is very calm and quiet so perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding as well as diving. There are lots of steps to contend with so make sure you hit the gym before your vacation!

Set in 220 acres of land and with a 700m stretch of bay Six Senses Ninh Nan Bay has got the most perfect setting. Nestled into the hillside are 59 villas which are all spacious and perfectly designed for maximum comfort and privacy. The villas all have private pools and benefit from an living area with great views. Getting around the resort is easy and can be done on foot, on bike or by buggy along windy, sandy lands which link the villas with the resorts many amenities. The beach is slightly enclosed which means it normally missed all of the major weather which occasionally comes in but it still gets the lovely breeze to cool you down. Whilst you are in resort there is so much to keep you entertained! Not only does it have great dining & water holes it also offers complimentary non-motorized water sports, a house reef (great for snorkeling), tennis, movies under the stars, trekking, fishing and much more! It's what many (including myself!) would dream of when thinking about an idyllic beach front luxury vacation, hard to beat!

It was about halfway across the strait of water that separates the built up coast of Nha Trang from the spit of land jutting out into the South China Sea ahead of me that I realised I was on my way to somewhere special. It was only as we started to close in on the opposite shore that I realised Six Senses Ninh Van Bay was there at all, so well is it hidden amongst the trees , its wooden villas camouflaged perfectly against the jungle that borders it.

The hotel was one of the first in the Six Senses group built when they were still part of Soneva and the villas certainly resemble those at its famous Maldivian cousin. They come in three types, high amongst the hills overlooking the bay, right down on the beach steps from the water and built up over the water on rocky outcrops some only accessible by boat for the ultimate honeymoon experience. The style is pure island adventurer with outdoor showers, big decked terraces and all made of natural materials. My villa was split over two levels with the bedroom downstairs leading out onto the plunge pool and an upstairs level with a huge daybed, terrace and views out to sea. Despite being a single bedroom it would have coped with a child or two easily.

There are two restaurants on sight, dining by the Bay which is casual and laid back adjacent to the main bar and perfect for lazy meals out of the sun or evening feasts watching the sun come down across the bay. The second main restaurant is Dining on the Rocks. Not for the fainthearted the only way up is via 170 stone steps carved out of the mountain that overlooks the resort. Once at the top the views are spectacular and the food matches the setting in every sense, a true fine-dining experience the "Tuna Three Ways" one of the best dishes Ive eaten in a hotel anywhere.

The hotel would work really well as a single center beach retreat but I think is best as part of a larger itinerary traveling through Vietnam and experiencing this refuge alongside some of the busier parts of the country. If you are only staying here then make sure you take the time to do the cooking class, fantastic fun and a great introduction to Vietnamese cuisine. As the speedboat brought me back to reality after my time here I was already planning my return to do it all again!

Nha Trang as a beach destination is now quite busy and built up which is why it was so great to drive straight through the strip of beach front hotels and to Six Senses Ninh Van Bays private jetty and whisked away across the bay to the hotel and feels like a world away from Nha Trang. I loved the fact that the hotel is surrounded by lush tropical jungle and you feel that you are in your own private paradise.

This is undeniably one of the most stunning locations for a beach resort. It is as secluded as you can get and once in my villa, I felt a little like I was on a desert island escape (ignoring the massive bath tub and private butler!). The villas are nestled into the hills, rocks and beach, blending in with the natural surroundings. The ethos of the property is eco-friendly, with the buildings made from wood and bamboo. The villa I was in had an open sided bathroom, with outdoor shower and bamboo blinds to pull down at night. While this rustic, bare-foot luxury may not be suited to everyone (you might come across the odd gecko!), for those who understand the concept, it is totally charming. It has an incredible spa, beautiful stretch of beach, private pools in every villa and individual bicycles to potter around the resort. It is a definitely a dream honeymoon location, but they are gearing up to make the place more family friendly and I think it would be a lot of fun to be a child here!

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is such a stunning retreat set on its own beach across the bay from Nha Trang. This rustic, barefoot luxury resort is one that will provide a relaxing break in such a peaceful location. My favorite accommodation here, the Rock Villas, are set on the side of the hill built in and around the rocks with surrounding vegetation to create a perfect amount of privacy. The views throughout the resort are stunning. The highlight of my stay was a local market dinner under the stars with sand beneath my feet.

Do not be put off by Nha Trang! As a town is very developed with a long stretch of beach with hotels lining both sides of the road. So its not surprising that I was apprehensive as we drove from the airport, however just a 40 minute drive followed by a 10 minute speedboat, the stunning haven of Six Senses Ninh Van Bay appears.

Built into the natural rock formation, with a beautiful private beach this really is a perfect hideaway. I stayed in a Beach Villa. These are set up as a duplex with spacious open air living room upstairs, the bedroom downstairs and then an open air bathroom - just incredible with an oversize bathtub and outdoor shower. Early in the morning I walked through the clearing from my villa straight onto the beach and had a swim in the water which was beautifully clear and refreshing.

We enjoyed a private dining experience on the deck and the breeze was welcome after a hot day. In the morning we did a fantastic trek the length of the resort via steep pathways above the main areas overlooking the sea. The hotel will even loan you brand new trainers if you forget yours!

For anyone traveling on honeymoon I would highly recommend the rock villas, they are so secluded and romantic, however if you prefer to be close to the main facilities and like to socialize the Beach or water villas are the best bet.

This is not a place for everyone, its open to the elements and without air con in some of the areas its not everyones taste, however I just loved the way it was so easy to relax and switch off so quickly in this stunning natural environment.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bays food on the whole was superb and imaginative. We even did a blind dinner in that we were blind folded and the executive chef personally cooked an al la carte dinner of 6 courses. His name was Bacha for your reference - he is a world class chef!

From Hoi An, it’s an hour by plane, another hour by car, and then 20 minutes turning green in a speedboat before we arrive at the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, an area of breathtaking natural beauty with tropical vegetation, elephantine boulders and shores fringed by coral reefs. It’s a peninsula that is accessible only by boat and feels like an island. We stay in a beachfront villa, bathe in cinnamon-scented waters in a wooden bathtub, and take alfresco showers with curious geckoes. A hotel note requests that we take our aerosols, plastics and batteries with us when we leave. Quaintly, time in this Robinson Crusoe-meets-Prada eco-resort is set an hour ahead of Hanoi, the better to enjoy the daylight. We cycle everywhere. We also take a local boat to a lobster farm with a floating shrine offering the gods yellow chrysanthemums, watermelon and incense. A fisherman dives into a pool and re-emerges with a glistening crustacean. Afterwards, we sail to a deserted beach, where our staff serve barbecued lobster, squid and crab on a table laid with linen.

This is my favorite Six Senses hotel in the world (and I have been lucky to visit most of them)! Everything about this hotel is perfect from the location, only accessible by boat and you deceptively feel as though you are on an island, to the pure white sandy beach and crystal clear waters of the South China Sea - what more could you want? Well there is lots more on offer...Over-water villas, so in demand but so rare outside of the Maldives, huge Beach Villas with an entire second floor devoted to a living room. It was lovely to have the extra space but it almost seemed unnecessary, unless you have a family and then two children could easily sleep up there. The food is out of this world! Giant slabs of tuna sashimi for lunch and if the Vietnamese buffet is on for dinner, I would highly recommend it. Delicious locally inspired delicacies are on offer and a lot of the fresh fruits and vegetables are sourced from the hotel’s own organic garden. The only thing to be aware of is if you have any kind of mobility problems, I would recommend sticking with a Beach Villa as there are a lot of steps to get to the Rock, Water and Hill Villas - it is totally worth it when you get to your villa though!
