  1. Fly to Nairobi

  2. Days 1-3: Maasai Mara and Southern Kenya

Your holiday begins as you fly to Nairobi before heading onto a connecting flight to the Masai Mara. Spend your first two nights in the private Naboisho conservancy staying in a mobile camp at Olare Lamun (the rhino salt lick) on the edge of the Loita Plains, which lie to the north. Explore the conservancy on a full day ride with wonderful wildlife viewing on offer in a remote setting. There is also the opportunity to go on game drives and bush walks which will allow you to appreciate your surroundings on a range of scales.

Accommodation: Offbeat Olare Lamun Mobile Camp (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-5: Maasai Mara and Southern Kenya

Your riding safari continues into the Olare Orok conservancy which borders the main Masai Mara reserve. Plains are filled with giraffe, wildebeest and zebra to name just a few and sightings of elephant and buffalo are possible. The Olare Orok Camp is set on a lugga in a game rich area where you will be lulled to sleep to the calls of lion and hyena. Enjoy morning and evening rides from camp, and for the chance for close encounters with lion, elephant and buffalo we recommend taking a game drive, perfect for photographic opportunities.

Accommodation: Offbeat Olare Orok Mobile Camp (2 nights)

  4. Days 5-6: Maasai Mara and Southern Kenya

Moving deeper into the main Masai Mara, cross the Mara River at one of the famed wildebeest crossings into the Mara Triangle and up onto the Soit Olololol Escarpment which offers exceptional views over the surrounding plains from the Soit Olololol Camp. Ride along the ridge of the escarpment, which offers excellent going for the horses and impressive sunsets.

Accommodation: Offbeat Escarpment Mobile Camp (1 night)

  5. Days 6-8: Maasai Mara and Southern Kenya

Descending from the escarpment back onto the plains, you will ford the Mara River once more, passing hippo pods along the way before spending a final night in the Mara on the banks of the Mara River with the sound of grunting hippos for company. Savour a final atmospheric breakfast before flying back to Nairobi to connect with your flight back home, marking the end of an exhilarating riding safari through the Masai Mara's game-filled plains.

Experience the wildness of the Masai Mara as you move between mobile camps in wonderful settings throughout the Mara ecosystem, accompanied by a professional horseback safari guide and taking in some truly iconic safari sights. Canter through the plains dotted with giraffe and wildebeest, ford the Mara River passing hippo pods along the way and climb escarpments to survey the wondrous sight below at sunset - this is the perfect experience for those looking for the thrill of adventure on horseback in an archetypal African setting.
