Sicily enjoys a blissful Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm springs and autumns. Even February, the coolest month, has average temperatures of 13°C, which means that any time of year is suitable. If you want to go sightseeing around the island’s legendary historic and natural sites, October–November and March–June are reliably warm, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 26°C. July and August are blessed with glorious sunshine, and average temperatures of around 28°C. August is peak tourist season, many businesses close for two or three weeks. This is when most Italians go on holiday, about 70% of the population takes their vacation at the same time, therefore hardly any work gets done in Italy during that period and beaches can be extremely crowded.

Seven Rooms Villadorata is beautiful boutique hotel in Noto’s historical centre. Surrounded by impressive baroque architecture, and close to some of Sicily’s most secluded sandy beaches, this hotel is the perfect balance of relaxation and culture.
Seven Rooms Villadorata enjoys a fantastically central local in the heart of Noto’s historic baroque centre. Surrounded by beautiful architecture and traditional Sicilian restaurants, and just a 30 minute drive from the secluded, sandy beaches of Sicily’s south-eastern coast, this is the perfect base for guests wishing to explore both the cultural and natural highlights of southern Sicily.
The hotel itself is housed in the former private apartments of the Prince Nicolas and extends throughout the south wing of the Nicolaci Palace. Guests are given the key to the main pedestrian door of the palace which opens into the courtyard in which the hotel entrance is found, and are able to access, for free, the rest of the palace building, which is now open to the public.
With only 8 rooms, and extremely friendly and personal service, this charming boutique hotel really does give guests the feeling that they are staying in a wonderful home. Each of the rooms is extremely spacious and airy, with lovely high ceilings, many of which are frescoed and works of art in themselves. The décor throughout the hotel is beautiful, and based on a classical style with ornate chandeliers and grand wooden shutters, to reflect the building’s former palatial use.
Given the history of the hotel building, bedrooms are connected by communal lounge areas (shared by the 2 or 3 rooms on each floor), rather than corridors. This lends itself to travelling groups who can take several rooms and have the whole floor, with its shared living spaces, to themselves.
Breakfast is an intimate affaire and is served in a communal dining room, where guests share one large table. A local buffet is offered, along with eggs a la carte. There is no restaurant in the hotel for lunch or dinner, but the excellent concierge service will suggest specific recommendations from the many excellent restaurants just a short stroll away, based on guest preferences.
Being housed in a former palace and listed building, the hotel has no extra facilities besides the beautiful bedrooms and lounge areas which it offers. Noto and the surrounding area however, have much to offer, and the hotel concierge are delighted to arrange tailored excursions and recommendations for guests staying with them. The small baroque towns of Modica and Ragusa, as well as Syracuse with its archaeological site and historic centre, are within easy reach, as are several beautiful, secluded sandy beaches. Beach club reservations can be made through the hotel if you wish.
