Germany is a year-round destination. The Christmas markets are particularly fun and great for getting into the festive spirit. The country looks particularly beautiful in spring and summer, and some of the best weather for sight-seeing can be had in autumn, when days are generally mild and clear.

Itinerary

Day 1-5

Berlin, Germany

Day 1 – Arrival in Berlin

Arrive in Berlin with a seamless private transfer waiting just beyond baggage claim. Once settled, meet your local guide for a private introduction to the city through its trendsetting neighbourhood of Kreuzberg. Taste your way through Berlin’s multicultural food scene, from iconic currywurst to lesser-known favourites, as you wander streets lined with independent shops and striking street art. Along the way, hear fascinating stories of Kreuzberg’s turbulent past and creative present. This is Berlin at its most authentic, vibrant, edgy, and unforgettable.

Day 2 – Icons of West Berlin

Begin your guided exploration of Berlin in the west, where Prussian grandeur and modern style meet. Visit Charlottenburg Palace and stroll through its gardens before taking in the atmosphere along Ku’damm, with its elegant shops and lively side streets. Pause at the Victory Column, then continue to Tiergarten, the city’s beloved green heart. The Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate anchor the day with their powerful presence, symbols of both history and unity. Your expert guide ensures the city’s defining landmarks are revealed with insight and ease.

Day 3 – East Berlin & the Wall

Continue your discovery in Berlin’s east, where history is layered and poignant. Admire the UNESCO-listed Museumsinsel from the outside, then wander Alexanderplatz, the bustling hub of Mitte. At the Berlin Wall Memorial, reflect on the city’s decades of division before following the path of history at Bornholmer Bridge, where the Wall first opened in 1989. Conclude at the East Side Gallery, where artists from across the world transformed fragments of the Wall into an open-air gallery. This is Berlin at its most powerful and creative.

Day 4 – Palaces of Potsdam

Just beyond Berlin lies Potsdam, a city of palaces and parks that once housed Prussian kings. With your private guide and driver, discover the rococo elegance of Sanssouci Palace and wander its vast gardens. Continue to the baroque splendour of the New Palace, before exploring Potsdam’s atmospheric Dutch Quarter and the unusual Russian colony of Alexandrowka. End at the Glienicke “Spy Bridge,” once a Cold War crossing point. The day combines grandeur, intrigue, and architectural variety, offering a rich contrast to Berlin’s urban energy.

Accommodation: Hotel Adlon Kempinski ( 4 nights )
Day 5-8

Nuremberg, Germany

Day 5 – To Nuremberg

This morning, enjoy a private transfer to Berlin’s central station, where reserved seats await you for the train to Nuremberg. German rail makes for smooth and comfortable travel, offering time to relax and enjoy the passing landscapes. On arrival, your driver will be waiting on the platform to escort you directly to your hotel. The remainder of the day is left at leisure, whether for a gentle stroll through the cobbled streets of Nuremberg’s Old Town or simply time to unwind.

Day 6 – Nuremberg’s Past and Present

Explore Nuremberg, a city where medieval charm sits alongside stark reminders of the 20th century. Wander its Old Town, a maze of timber-framed houses, gothic churches, and winding lanes that echo centuries of history. Contrast this with a visit to the former Nazi Rally Grounds, whose vast structures stand as chilling reminders of the regime. The Documentation Centre provides context and reflection, making the city’s layered past tangible. This balance of architectural beauty and historical weight makes Nuremberg an endlessly compelling stop.

Day 7 – Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Today’s private excursion takes you to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, perhaps Germany’s most picturesque medieval town. With your guide, wander cobblestone streets framed by colourful gabled houses, towers, and fountains that feel untouched by time. Step inside courtyards and along winding alleys where life in the Middle Ages is still vividly present. Rothenburg’s beautifully preserved Old Town offers a glimpse into Germany’s past at its most romantic. After your visit, return to Nuremberg, before continuing by private transfer to Munich.

Accommodation: Karl August Nuremberg ( 3 nights )
Day 8-11

Munich, Germany

Day 8 – A Bavarian Pretzel Workshop

Today brings a hands-on taste of Bavarian tradition. Under expert guidance, learn the secrets of creating the perfect pretzel—from mixing the dough to mastering the signature twist. As your freshly baked pretzels emerge golden from the oven, enjoy the satisfaction of savouring your own creation. This relaxed workshop offers more than just flavour; it’s a chance to connect with one of Bavaria’s most enduring culinary icons in a setting that feels both authentic and welcoming. A light-hearted, memorable contrast to days of sightseeing.

Day 9 – Munich’s Stories & Flavours

Munich reveals itself through its landmarks and local life on today’s private walking tour. Admire the twin towers of the Frauenkirche, the bustle of Marienplatz, and the city’s oldest church, St Peter’s. Explore the Residenz, once home to Bavarian rulers and now a vast museum complex. Later, step behind the scenes at a traditional brewhouse, where copper kettles and craft techniques bring Munich’s beer heritage to life. The day blends historic depth with convivial warmth, a fitting expression of Bavaria’s capital city.

Day 10 – Neuschwanstein & Oberammergau

Conclude your journey with a day of Bavarian splendour. Tour Neuschwanstein Castle, Ludwig II’s fairy-tale creation, whose towers and turrets inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Explore its ornate interiors before gazing out across dramatic alpine landscapes. Continue to Oberammergau, renowned for its once-a-decade Passion Play and beautifully frescoed houses. Browse artisan workshops where wooden carvings, a tradition passed down for generations, are still crafted by hand. Return to Munich with lasting impressions of Germany’s most iconic highlights, your journey ending as seamlessly as it began.

Day 11 – Departure from Munich

After breakfast, a private transfer will take you from your Munich hotel directly to the airport. Travel in comfort and ease, reflecting on the highlights of your German journey, from Berlin’s dynamic streets to Bavaria’s fairytale landscapes. With luggage handled and schedules taken care of, this final transfer ensures a seamless conclusion to your trip, allowing you to depart relaxed and ready for your next adventure.
