Situated on a grassy knoll overlooking wide open floodplains with the Kapamba river in the background, Zungulila bush camp epitomises the exploring spirit of Luangwa Valley. Remote and intimate, the camp has just four beautifully designed tents, decorated in muted and fitting safari colours, and each with a four poster bed and flowing mosquito nets. Rosewood furniture lends an antique feel, and each tent overlooks either a natural spring or has far-reaching views over the floodplain in front of the camp.
Zungulila’s main area is utterly charming; almost a hotchpotch of different styles, with a wide open front overlooking that incredible view of the plains, and uninterrupted views of a natural spring which flows just below the bank. It’s a perfect spot for game viewing from the comfort of your arm chair!
Activities here focus almost exclusively on walking with your expert guide and his scout – this is serious walking country, with very few roads transecting, meaning the area is utterly pristine, and you really do feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! Walks generally focus around (and often cross) the Kapamba sand river, which attracts a variety of game. Expect stunning vistas, exciting and rewarding bush walks, and wonderful stories around the camp fire at the end of the day.
Zungulila is best reached on foot from its sister-camp, Kapamba – and works excellently in combination with its other sister-camps – Kuyenda, Mfuwe Lodge, Chamilandu, Bilimungwe, Chindeni.
