Witness the elephants walking through the lodge (in season!)
Amazing views out over the riverbed and reserve
Beautiful deck area to sit and relax during the day
Mfuwe Lodge is a wonderful place to start your South Luangwa exploration. An imposing and luxurious lodge, it is encircled by two of South Luangwa's permanent lagoon, guaranteeing excellent game-viewing right from the comfort of your deck!
Mfuwe's main area is large and airy, with a high thatched roof and a central bar leading out to a huge deck overlooking the lagoon, with an infinity pool.
Activities from Mfuwe focus on exploring the South Luangwa in day and night 4X4 game drives, all in open-topped vehicles, and accompanied by an expert guide. In the evenings these game drives become exciting spot-light night drives, perfect for finding Luangwa's predators such as lion and leopard, which are frequently seen.
At the end of the season, in November, Mfuwe Lodge is a very exciting place to be - a family of elephant, led by the matriarch (affectionately named Wonky Tusk) make their way straight through reception, climbing the steps and walking through the lodge to feast on the juicy orange fruits of the wild mango tree which grows in the lodge grounds. It's a wonderful time to visit the Valley in any case with the green shoots of the new season beginning to show, and electrical storms rolling around the edges of the horizon. Come in November for some absolutely superb and close up elephant viewing!
Mfuwe Lodge combines perfectly with its sister bush-camps in the southern sector of the South Luangwa National Park - Kuyenda, Chamilandu, Bilimungwe, Chindeni, Kapamba and Zungulila.
