Zambia has a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons: from November to March is the Emerald, or the rainy season, April to July is Zambia's winter, when the weather is cool and dry, and August to October is summer, when the weather is hot and dry. In terms of game-viewing, the drier months, meaning a higher concentration of game at the permanent water sources, are a superb time to visit. Alternatively come for some superb bird-watching at the end of the rains.

Situated a little way out of Lusaka, Chaminuka Lodge is a quirky and eclectic place to stopover either en-route into Zambia or out of Zambia - come here for some interesting artwork and perhaps take a tour around their safari park.
Chaminuka is not in Lusaka city, but is a convenient 30 minutes drive away from the airport. It is a converted private home, set in beautiful grounds and decorated with a truly stunning collection of Zambian art, a collection built up over many years. Expect also to see a few hunting trophies including some impressive kudu horns. The main lodge has a splendid position up on top of a hill, meaning a panoramic view.
The rooms at Chaminuka are comfortable if not luxurious, with twin or double beds and each one has air-conditioning.
The main Chaminuka area has a number of lounges, which includes a rather quirky sunken lounge with huge brightly coloured squashy sofas, a large and airy dining room, and a library with an impressive variety of books. The lodge has two swimming pools and a tennis court.
Surrounding Chaminuka is the jewel in its crown, a private nature reserve of 110 square km, housing a variety of game including lion and leopard. 4X4 game drives are available, as are walks, fishing trips and horse riding for experienced riders.
In conclusion, Chaminuka is slightly quirky and has its very own style; but for those needing a convenient stopover in Lusaka before the early morning British Airways departure it is one of the best options in Lusaka.
Chaminuka Lodge features 30 en-suite guest rooms. The rooms have a sophisticated feel to them with their blend of contemporary and traditional african themes. The rooms all have a television, hairdryer, mini bar and safe.
Children of all ages are welcome to come and stay at Chaminuka Lodge. However, there are no specific facilities available for them. Babysitting or a nanny can be arranged if required.
During your stay at Chaminuka Lodge, there is an array of activities that you can partake in during your stay. If you are interested in art, you can take a tour of the Chaminuka Collection. You can go on morning, afternoon and evening game drives to the Chaminuka Nature Reserve. You can go on bush walks, do some horse riding, go fishing or bird watching.
